The Weather

Dahlias dun - sometimes we will go until Thanksgiving before they have to be pulled out and over-wintered.

Here in blighty they are still rampant, but oddly the berwick swans have arrived from siberia 3 weeks early, so won't be long. I put them in last year (bought in pots) and this year they have gone completely rampant, which was unexpected. I need to come up with a staking plan for next year. Still the blown over stems have been appreciated as cut flowers 🙂

We're going to legalize marijuana here in Canada...that should keep us warmer in our igloos this coming next winster. ...Just in time for the Christmas holidays.

You guys started shopping for your kids yet...ski-doo boots, mitts, scarves, whool socks, velcro underwear, ...?

All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray.
I've been for a walk on a winter's day. (it was 37F this morning)
I'd be safe and warm if I was in Fla.; (77F this morning)
California dreamin' on such a winter's day.

Yep, it's here. All the leaves are brown and on the ground....spent the day yesterday mowing them all into little tiny flecks that vanish into the ground or blow away.....cleaned up the lawn equipment and prepared it for a 4 or 5 month sleep.

and warm if I was in Fla.;

And mowing my lawn all year round.

Mostly rain today, but still relatively warm...the leaves are going to wait...till sunnier days. ...And they keep FALLing down like balloons that lost their helium.

No need to get the sky doo ready this year...it's going to be another splendid green and warm Christmas.
The only color white that we'll see will remain above...in the white sky...and blue.

* Halloween was fun...filled with multiple fireworks, and a bag full of 'klondikes' (multicolored goodies/candies). :deer:

You guys feel that...the day seems to be longer today...

I blow the oak leaves into the rhodedendron patches -- keeps their roots moist, protected AND as the rhodies like a slightly lower pH balances the soil. Good for azaleas too.

In the Spring, around the end of march a gentle dose of 10-10-10.

Foggy all day here. Was supposed to clear around 3pm, but in fact the fog started getting thicker around that time.

Temp 8°C ( ~ 46°F ) but it feels colder due to the fog.

It's Guy Fawkes night here on Thursday ( 5th of November ) In the past all the local kids packed together to collect wood to build a bonfire. Now after years of public safety campaigns there are very few unofficial bonfires or fireworks displays. With an adult head on it makes sense, but I still have warm memories of when everyone made their own fires and firework displays. (pun intended)
