The PA1501A is the latest mini tube amp of APPJ in 2015. The design of the amp is new and unique.

The 6AD10 is a indirectly heated double pentode and this amplifier pentode was designed as an FM detector in television receivers in the old days. APPJ researched 6AD10, deveopled and specially designed the circuit as this stereo audio amplifier PA1501A. APPJ seriously tested and selected NOS 6AD10 in pair and provided with the amp. Now It is very easy to buy 6AD10 tubes for spare or replacement and the price is cheap.

There are two colors of chassis for options: Black and Silver

Compared with the previous model PA0901A or miniwatt N3 EL84, PA1501A 6AD10 sounds more powerful, smoother, more musical and details.

I've enjoyed the original four tube S1 since it first came out. Looks like it's being produced again with the same tube compliment but in a different case. I wonder how it compares to your new two tube version?

I thought the S1 sounded better than my friend's N3.

The circuit of PA1501A is a new design. APPJ makes use of the advantages of the 6AD10 double pentode. The sound of PA1501A tends to be a wider and deeper sound stage and more bass than PA0803A.

What is the concept in the output stage. Ultra linear ?
Or just wired as triode ?

Received an amp of this type for service.
The SMPS failed after two years of use.

Too bad. My 4 tube Miniwatt/APPJ which was the original version is now 14 years old and has been played for much of that time.

Re post 11 :

It was only the two capacitors associated with the mains rectifier, 82 µF 400 V.
Attention, size matters here, max length is about 25 mm / 1 inch.
For exchange it is necessary to remove not less that 20 different screws, 4 bolts
and 4 spacers ..

No other part was found to be defective.

This is a single ended amp. The output waveform is fair enough, and even good
compared to some other offers. Speaker outputs are grounded, not floating.

A new four tube version ( best in MHO ) is so inexpensive that repairs by a tech might cost more.
