Hi,
I find this interresting measurement of two PHL 6.5" drivers !
http://www.hiendfi.net/hfdownload/Misljenja/Usher-Audio/9950-20 Test Review.pdf
The PHL 1140 (see PS at the bottom of this post) as "fill in" driver on only one octave could be a good 100 dB spl bet ! (look at the end of the pdf : curves of the two drivers on a sealed 15"x8") !
http://www.lamaisonduhautparleur.com/hp/PHL/Pdf/SP1140_1080.pdf
(also a good swap : http://www.lamaisonduhautparleur.com/hp/PHL/Pdf/SP1040_1050.pdf
& if a little more max spl needed : http://www.lamaisonduhautparleur.com/hp/PHL/Pdf/SP1500_1510.pdf
TPL-150H above and any good 10" or 12" below ? XOs : 800 to 1000 hZ & 2K for the TPL150-H ? (match of the 80° horizontal between such 6.5" driver and the Beyma's horn).
How power response blend between a "little" 6.5" and a huge 12" ?
Finally, is a "fill in" driver on 1 octave a good bet here ?
regards,
Eldam
PS : I think there was a typo in the review : it is the 1240 and the 1120 drivers (not the 1220 & 1040 !) : MHP (la Maison du Haut-Parleur) : concepteur français de kits d'enceintes pour la HI-FI et le Home Cinéma...

Sounds like too much trouble. For a high effiency system the TPL-150H with any number of quality 8"-12" drivers should be fine. Acoustic Elegance probably the best. Cross them over to big woofers below. Get all the phase tracking right. Make it linear phase if it doesn't detract from anything else. Active will make it come together very nicely. Passive will take a lot of work.
Room positioning/treatment will need to be worked on for best results.

Thank you for your input,
Ok, too bad scenario and better to avoid it !
Indeed, I saw many simulations with these AE driver and TPL150(H).
AE are hard to source here or at a too highly cost for me (near x2 with custom taxes + shipping).

KISS a 3 way
Yep 🙂
Twin 8's might possibly work the best. Use the lower positioned 8" for BSC.
Run a 2x15 ppsl below it all to cover the bass. Be done with it all.
Active is the way !

Eldam 1140/1080 look very, very nice. Goal: to cover as much mid range as you can. Might need to double up, hence use the 16 ohm version.
B&W had a superb performing speaker using 380/3.8 K crossover points.
Hi Scott,
this one has an incredible ratio Bl/Mms and foam surround http://www.lamaisonduhautparleur.com/hp/PHL/Pdf/SP1040_1050.pdf ! 100 dB efficienty and 116 dB max spl, cone is 7 g and aerogel like !
You think about the B&W Lewinski01 quoted (the kevlar dome with phase plug measured by Zaph) ?
Has it a good max spl like the PHL have (>110 dB) to follow the TPL150H on some huge dynamic gap peak ? (at least when the reccordings allow it !😱). It's a mess up to not see the max spl than drivers allows in most of the datasheets ! I don't know if the online calculators to find it with the T/S data are good enough !
Never heard such BW 800 family... but heard aerogel Audax : very good natural sound and near than PHL Audio coating (maybe the same ?!) . Btw I'm asking Myself if Philippe Lessage is always at PHL Audio ? Off topic !
I liked the idea of a snappy mid-bass with good transcient as the 12p80nd/v2 allows in the low midrange to match the speed of an ATM tweeter... but maybe the T/S with an hypex in active conf are not important : such hypex amps do not care tabout inductance or Mms of a driver !
