Speaking of motor start caps, would something like this be suitable?
https://www.westfloridacomponents.c...art+Capacitor++Philips+3535B4A0043A250A5.html
About the oil filled ones. I remember seeing some locally at a surplus store but
they are probably of ancient vintage. How long would these last in storage?
Thanks,
Dennis

motor run , not motor start
even ancient ones are most probably ok
Ah...thanks.
Dennis
Hello Dennis. The tech sheet of the caps you indicated has an unusual description which reads "the Al electrodes are separated with paper impregnated with a conductive electrolyte" which to me is a typo error. Beware of ancient oil caps which may contain toxic Poly Chlorinated Biphenyl [PCB] fluids. These oils are electrically non-conductive but are highly polarized; suitable for making caps .Speaking of motor start caps, would something like this be suitable?

NB. I recall seeing the terrible ill effect of PCB poisoning on the face of a certain Prime Minister in the news a while ago. Puffy, lumpy and distorted; contra to his handsome smooth looks prior.

Thanks for the reminder on old oil caps; I remember looking seeing
"no PCB" printed on the cap so I guess they weren't so old for PCB to
have been used in them.
The Ducati ones CeeVee mentioned looked pretty spiffy.
Cheers,
Dennis
Isn't the sparkle that such a cap produces in the amp to big.......
🙂
And what are the 'audible' benefits of these caps?
Regards,
Dan 😉
