Hey guys, just to avoid confusion... here is few things:
1. I don't ''quit'' diyaudio, i just don't see why it would be of any interest for me to put the details of my project into this thread while most of you don't see the interest/validity in it. I'll do it my way, in my own backyard.
2. Said it already, will repeat it: came here to get driver's list. Got it. Mission accomplished. Thank you very much.
3. I'm not against anyone and, contrary to guys like 5th element, i don't see any ''defeat'' pattern and sh_t. It's no battle, it's discussions. Spent about 15 years on discussion boards, over 60k messages total, i know the drill by heart, in french and english. Can't lose time anymore with dramas and egos, i know better now.
4. Having opposite/different opinions is not only healthy for discussions (and global evolution) it's mandatory. That being said, there is ways of living it so it's more pleasant AND efficient.
If you don't know yet Paul Graham's work about that, you should stop doing what you do right now and read it. It's pure gold.
How to Disagree

How to Disagree
Overkill Audio,
I'm surprised your points and disagree most, although agree much has happen here even a weird revolver fight was suggested with 10.000$ on the table for the winner.
Not exactly. It was a Loudspeaker's sunset-duel with 10,000 £

The use of revolver was not allowed, even off-axis with a flat response.

Well no it wasn't a battle, nor was it even a discussion, it was more a one sided put down on your part. You weren't even open to listening to what people had to say.
Anyone who came in with a difference of opinion in terms of objectivity and scientific study, who was pointing out issues that you were going to have in keeping this comparison between apples and apples, rather than apples and oranges, was simply shot down with what amounted to 'you are wrong', or 'I don't care'. With you even go so far as to assume what was 'wrong' with other people and then telling them what they needed to do in order to fix what was 'wrong' with them, or their points of view.
I even kept giving you the benefit of the doubt, remaining cordial, and offering up technical, objective arguments that are well known to be responsible for excellent sound quality. This was met with, I ain't talking to y'all any more.
So much for having a discussion.
.... Sometimes the same intense determination that makes an engineer great, also makes him abrasive and even corrosive to others.... Be open to being wrong, and have a sense of humor about it.
I think this is the nub of it. Also the technologists objective view of the world seems so very black and white.
It would be polite, when you've had your say, and are disagreeing with the thread starter, to just withdraw from his or her thread when it is obvious your contribution is not wanted.

S'fine with me but that's only if I'm ignored. I will however defend my point of view especially if the other has been condescending and rude in their response.
That's really rather nice, the only thing missing would be a BSC circuit, but other than that it looks like it'd be quite listenable.
Yes, the Visaton B80 does look pretty good. Maybe not as flat as the TC9/TG9FD or SS 10F, but for being the most expensive ($160) driver of all the drivers tested, it should be rather good.
European prices.. TC9-15$, B80-60$ and 10F-120$..
According to measurements from Klang und Ton quite fair order..
It would be interesting to see your measurements for those three drivers, with CSD and THD..
I must admit that I haven't read all 55 pages of this thread, but just scanned the proposed contenders on the first pages.
I believe it'll be hard to beat the ATC-unit, but there's one contender, that I believe you've missed, if you want to compare the best midranges.
The Scanspeak 12M is by many considered both a better midrange unit than the 12MU, and one of the best there is. Finally, its construction is very different from both the MU and the T10, that are proposed in the beginning of this thread.

Thank you Dansk for the input.
Can't believe i still get suggestions after everything... And i think that is a really good one.
'just sent you a private message.
P.S. Thank you all for your PMs, will give you an update in the upcoming days.
I'm surprised that a moderator didn't block some of the rude contributors. There should be a way that the threat starter can block rude contributors. Block and/or report.

Anyone can report a post and specify a reason. If a mod thinks deleting the post is a valid they will do so.

When the BGs are gone, they are gone … those don't actually say they are BGs and from China one has to be wary of clones.
