That counts for many manufacturers that keep using MLCC caps for coupling purposes. It won't be long that Wima will announce production stop on film caps because of lack of demand 😉
Even though ceramic caps are used the unit sounds very good. I tend to think that looking in detail to devices makes them sound worse than when using them unopened 🙂 I am even quite sure things work that way.

Thanks. I updated my Olive One and see an improvement in the internet radio streaming that I complained about previously. The lag between streamed radio and live FM is reduced considerably and the Olive seems to be more stable. And it doesn't drop the internet stream as often. Nice to see the slow steady progress.New firmware since 27-4-2015

Nope.Have you tried my suggestions from #20?
Have you had a chance to get one of these and experiment?

I had not. It does look interesting, though. I suppose its intended purpose is to forget everything else, connect the speakers and listen. For the asking price, it does offer a fair bit... My main issue is the speaker terminals that are mounted too close - I wouldn't be able to connect my speaker cable spades. This is what I can say from the photos... From the various threads, I see people complaining about firmware / software / delayed deliveries. But, it appears that it does sound good, for the money. Maybe I should give Olive some time and see them develop into a serious player, hopefully.

Wow.....that would defy the existence of this website and our hobby 😉
I must admit that it really works and sounds good and I haven't bothered finishing other projects since I bought it.

What is DIY community going to do now? We are all doomed....

Hello Gary,It does not have an SPDIF transformer. But I was able to fit a Newava S22083 and it works fine. I've traced out the digital output and can show you how I wired it up if you're interested. Essentially it uses a 74HC04 as the SPDIF output driver with appropriate resistors and coupling cap to get the right impedance and voltage level. The coupling cap is 0.15uf, the series resistor is 374 ohms and the resistor to ground is 93ohms. Disconnect the 93 ohms resistor and hook up the primary of the S22083 where the 93 ohm resistor used to go. Hook a new 93 ohm resistor on the secondary of the S22083. Works like a charm.

Can you show how to modify the spdif out with the Newava S22083 ?
Thanks.
