My current speakers are using the 3FE22 4-Ohm. A big contributing factor was the sensitivity of these drivers. I'm running them with a Logitech Z-2300 amp, and wanted to make sure I could achieve decent SPL w/o blowing-up the amp.
BUT, the thread on the full-range driver comparisons got me to thinking about the TC9FD. But at 84db/watt (vs. 91 for the Faital) it would seem like it would need quite a bit more power. And at 8-Ohm, it would seem the amp may have its legs cut out from under it.
Any thoughts? Has anyone tried both? Is it possible the Vifa isn't "that low" and the Faital isn't "that high" in terms of sensitivity? Or that measurement differences contribute to substantially different ratings?

I have tried both, and in the same enclosure. The Faital is more sensitive, but the TC9FD has more excursion (2.53mm vs 1.73mm). The 3FE22 is rated at 40 watts and the TC9FD at 60 watts. If your amp has the power (like a TPA3116D2 is ideally suited as it has about 40 to 50 watts). Depending on your application, if running from 12v supply, the 3FE22 will let you get louder. If using a 19v or 24v supply, you can get the TC9FD almost as loud with more power. They are both fine sounding drivers with the TC9 maybe smoother and has deeper bass extension due to higher Qts.
I thought it would have been the opposite, but the Vifa has a lower Cms, meaning a stiffer suspension, so should ultimately handle LF signals below resonance a tad better than the Faital. The Vifa also has a slightly greater Sd. These are two good points to go towards the Vifa.
The 3FE22-4 is rated at 91dB/W/m, which the datasheet wrongfully refers to as "sensitivity". The actual voltage sensitivity should then be ~94dB/2.83V/m, which is now 2W of power. The Vifa is 83.5dB/W/m and 84.5dB/2.83V/m. Quite a difference, but if your amp can swing the current, this is one pretty good point to go to the Faital.
