WHG. JBL 4" titanium diaphragms break up at 4 kHz. The alu diaphragms at 7 kHz. A 1,75" diaphram is less than half the size, first breakup should be at around 15 kHz. I believe the 8 kHz dip is caused by careless mounting of the diaphragm.

The notch cause is a mode that my involve the suspension as well. I did not say it was the first mode, just a primary mode as it was apparently the most intense. Of course there are many others that can be used to support a contrary point of view. You can always remount one of the [Al] diaphragms to see it the notch returns. I suspect that it will. WHG
