A good commercial class d under $100

Thanks to all who have replied to this post. I know that it is similar to other posts and I know that the question that I'm about to pose has already been answered elsewhere, but all my searches for the last two hours have been fruitless. but as it's 651 pages, I'll admit that I didn't read all of it. So here goes. Can someone point me to a good commercially available power supply for a tda3116d2 amp? I have a 19v 3.42a 65w laptop power adaptor. Would this be good? I don't mind paying a bit ($50 us) for something more ideal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's amazing to me, all the new inovations. This looks like a great amp but seems to be designed for sound reinforcement. I'm sure that with a series of adaptors I could hook it up to my conputer and polk audio bookshelf speakers. It has plenty of power indeed, enough to blow up my speakers. Have you (or anyone) heard this beast? Anyone know how it sounds compared to a 3116?
 
I havent heard TPA3116 but TK2050 can sound really good. The main difference to Behringer is that it's real power. The small amps quickly sounds harsh when pushed to the limit. They can go from really good to awfull very fast when they go into clipping.

My hifi life is to short for these small amps ( I do have a MiniAMP for fun, and a TA2024 for the TV)

Any feedback on the sound quality of the Behringer EPQ450 ?

Is the fan noise a problem ?

Being a Class AB amp rather than a D or T amp in a small case I would expect it gets warmer than the latter and the fan speeds up creating noise.

It's not at traditional AB amp, so it more efficient than normal class AB. For normal home use, you could try to leave out the fan, if it's to noisy.

According to the datasheet it is a AB output stage amplifier with a SMPSU
Cant see why it would run much cooler than any other AB amp really.
It will be (is) smaller due to the SMPSU rather than Xfrmr+rect+caps.

It uses rail tracking as far as i know - also known as Class H og Class G.
I don't know how much more efficient it is over traditional class AB (traditional PSU).

Also have in mind that class d is only efficient at full power, so these to technologies might be quite close if you use only half the power (at half the power a class d is not that efficient anymore)

The theoretical maximum efficiency of a class AB ouput stage is 78.5%
The tracking PSU (type of Class G) allows the output stage to approach the theoretical 78.5%. At high powers there will still be a minimum of 21.5% of power going as heat.

The theoretical maximum efficiency of a class D (or T) ouput stage is 100%
Obviously no amps give the 100% eff. The Class D OUTPUT STAGES do approach this though.

You are correct that efficiency of class D gets better as powers go up but this is due mainly to quiescent dissapation of drivers etc.

SMPSU's at this sort of power levels are not that different in power efficency to the Xfmr+Cap+rect PSU. They are massively different in terms of mass and volume.

Sorry if I sounded like a smart *** !

Its a pity becuase these amps look great value for money but it does not take much of a fan to ruin a listening experience in a household situation.

I was looking at the Hifimediy T3s and SMPS600RS PSU though this would run cool with very little extra cooling. But its the same price without case etc 🙁

Still like to know how they sound and how loud the fan is though
