For the sake of experimentation, I'd like to see and hear the differences between the same tube poweramp with KT88's either connected ultra-linear or pentode (well... tertrode 🙂). Current configuration is UL. Fixed bias is regulated, as is the B+ (460V). I almost just went ahead and connected the G2's to the same B+ going to the output transformer. Just wanted to check if I'm missing something that might otherwise be catastrophic 😎
You will want to put a screen resistor from the B+, say 470-1K depending how hard you play. The tetrode will probably sound a bit more crunchy and distorted than the UL connection.
