Hello all.

im starting out with diy audio electronics, but i have experience with pro audio equipment, electrical wiring, and play musical instruments do audio recordings, so im familiar with electronics.

I'm looking to design/build a multi source device like a home fm radio with usb input and built in stereo speakers and 1 subwoofer. all in one enclosure.

I have these questions:

1)for usb input, if i would want to plug in my android or iphone, I can't just fin a pinout of usb and tap left and right wires right? its digital signal so i will need DAC converter circuit?

2)source selector. before audio sources get to an amplifier circuit i will need a source router circuit like an micro audio mixer or selector?

1) USB doesn't have left and right analog audio signals. It is an asynchronous digital data transfer medium. You would need a DAC that your phone recognizes. I'd recommend a PCM2704, modules are cheap on ebay and it has broad compatibility, although it's still not 100% and has issues. I'd use direct line in from the headphone jack (easiest) or maybe Bluetooth.

2) Yes, but it can be as simple as a switch.

maybe I'll go with simple mini phone jack input than or even bluetooth.
how easy is it to pair a phone/device with bluetooth receiver and which are good ones that are not too too expensive?

oh yea that's right, I can just use a 3 way switch.. or a rotary dial switch selector

now instead of making the whole circuit board on one pcb, i'm thinking of getting premade mini modules and assembling/wiring them all together into one piece.

I want to have one stereo amp for full range speakers and one mono amp for subwoofer. how do i make one knob control both of them?
I'll a 4pole potentiometer for that right?
