The "Prime Beef" at Costco is from Mexico. It's actually quite good.

Can you ever tell that's written by a westerner. You ask any of those and they will tell you, there's is by far the best, they are completely different dishes, not the same at all...The Vietnamese "pho" is not much different from the Thai "kuay tiow reua, " or the Cantonese beef noodles you get in Chinatown noodle shops
...except for the darn ingredients.
Not me, the beef tastes too lethargic, dumb almost. I prefer beer fed cattle. That meat tastes young and energetic with a hint of ****. Or is that vinegar?I prefer 100% grass fed.
yellow or white ? - factoid:
Fat from 100% wild, grass, free ranging cattle... the fat is not white .... it is a yellow color. That is one way to tell at your meat section of the store the bad from the good.

Anyone remember having beef with yellow fat? I do... 50-60 years ago.

I am wondering if we are discussing a quantity thing. My Vietnamese wife, my Thai cousin and my Cambodian co-workers suggest that beef is prevalent but certainly not like we eat it here. Keep in mind also, beef refers to more than what we might be accustomed to calling beef. My favourite Pho is raw eye of round with cooked tendon and cooked tripe. We prepare and enjoy this dish often at home. Not too far from what she got back in the homeland. The stock is the hard part believe it or not.but beef is not a staple nor popular in Thailand or anywhere else in S.E.Asia.
It exists for sure. Usually a few thin slices mixed with vegs. Like I said there are places/areas where you can find it. Even western style slabs of it. But, Yes it is a quantity thing. They dont have much cattle there or grazing land or feed lots etc. Far, far More fish and chicken and pork by far (and rice). Having some in existance isnt what I am refering to. Its like asking for a glass of milk in a German restaurant.

You should try it , ride sidecar , you may crash , but wont fall off ...🙂
When I do I prefer 100% grass fed. People forget that in many places the beef is spent work/compost animals not very good and they use EVERY part, no surprise you won't find that in city restaurants. I have tried that here from our CSA farm, not very good and went to our dog.
Grass feed in those regions and yes you should try the tongue, cow tongue is fantastic, another great wash is goat soap...
Testies anyone ....🙂
You guys should try oxtail with rice and peas, alot of fat , but my, my .... 🙂

Could be, perception of differences can be compressed for purpose of argument. Beef based noodle dishes appear in many Asian cultures even though some of the basic flavoring agents are very different, I understand accepting a common origin might have some strong objections, best not to pit cultures against one another. I like Pho and boat noodles and yes they both need a proper broth.
There are those that go through great pains to prove that there was pasta in Italy before Marco Polo.
Beer fed? Are you pulling my leg, only had it in Japan and it was pretty mild in taste. The best grass fed can taste like game and is served with a don't expect your fork to cut it warnings.

Yes. And, beef from Argentina is great. But best was here in USA-- Burlington, Iowa. 25 years ago and I will never forget it. it was that good.
Killer stuff.

Scott, I would only pull your leg in one of those frivolous type threads, so considering how serious this is, I am surprised you even ask. This thread has taught me much, especially we're not in the actual food thread. Killing the mighty beast with beer does have positive connotations compared with the pin through the head n'est-ce pas? Which beef do you want on your plate?Beer fed? Are you pulling my leg
Ya, I guess I was pulling your leg, but don't tell anyone.
