The Boominator - another stab at the ultimate party machine

Hey Hey.
What DSP settings are folks using for HP-10s and PHT 407s?
I feel like my Boominator is sounding a bit Muddy.

Hi Shortrope

Just a thought, check your input source before blaming the boominator ;), my experience has shown that there are remarkable differences between the quality of input devices, laptop soundcards and the file format being played.... not all mp3's are created equal. It is easy to forget this.....

I've started to get fussy about who plugs into my boominator cos some peoples ipods make it sound s**t.

Tweeter:

Gain: -5.2dB
HP 2302.21hz BW 18dB/oct (must be butterworth or bessel. Cannot be 12 or 24dB/oct)
LP 21120.0hz peaking LR 12dB/oct +4dB peak gain (if it does not have peaking LR filter then make it by having EQ +3dB@20khz)

Woofer:

Gain: 0dB
HP: 63.2132hz LR 48dB/oct
LP: 2171.62hz LR 24dB/oct

Hey guys..

Im ordering either a 10w or a 20w amorphous solar panel for my boominator mini for this years roskilde festival!

Is 10w enough to fill up my 7.2 ah sla if I charge it during the day to play it all week? (Given that the sun is out of course!)

It's my understanding that, 10w should be plenty but even the you may need a solar charge management system....

Thanks brummiejon

I was definitely going to buy a solar regulator..

I just couldn't find anywhere how much it would actually give the battery.. I would just like it to not run dry during the day even tho there would be some phone charging.. And letting me play during night!

If a Maxamp draws 350mah and it's a 7.2 ah battery it should play like 18-25 hours if in not mistaken.. But hooked up to a 10w would it actually drain the battery at all?
Or let me put it another way.. In Danish conditions how long would it take to charge a flat battery with the 10w ?

It stands to reason if a 10w panel will keep a full size boominator going with 2 x 7.2 ah batteries, then it should charge up 1x 7.2 ah twice as fast (well almost). However, with less storage capacity it would be vital to ensure maximum exposure to daylight....

That makes sense... I just figured since most boominators have 2x10w that it Would be Best! I Think i Will order the 10w, save some money and hope for the Best...

Regulator wise - which one should i go for?
4A/12V Laderegulator PSR4, KeryChip WEBSHOP - solceller, solcelleanlæg, tilbehør
Laderegulator Steca PR0303, KeryChip WEBSHOP - solceller, solcelleanlæg, tilbehør
Laderegulator Phocos CM04 4 Amp, KeryChip WEBSHOP - solceller, solcelleanlæg, tilbehør
Or are they all prototype Much the same?
Thank you

Life sometimes moves faster than your projects :)

I have finally got around to trimming up the edges, drill 2 holes that fit the speaker wire nice and snug, and ready the fittings for the top.

Next is sizing and fitting for the battery and power components in the tray and putting on a side wall.

I guess if I have space for 2 x 7ah batteries I should fit them as it will then last a really long time (Twice as long?) as it has only half the speakers as the boominator.

Images below, let me know if they are too big.

Cheers, S.

Looking good Stevo!

Regarding mounting the drivers on the mini V2,

I understand that the sealant and the chemical metal hold the driver in place instead of screws.
But does that mean I can avoid using the screws altogether?

I will be using Tek7 clear (Trans7?) sealant unless told otherwise. (man that stuff is expensive but have bought it already)

If I dont need the screws can I just clamp the drivers while the sealant sets?

Cheers
