Problem adding hyperlinks to posts.

How do we get rid of all that google rubbish and generate the direct link?

Like this (and this applies to any link you want to post),

1) Copy the URL as normal.

2) Instead of pasting the URL like this,

Click the "insert hyperlink" icon as shown. A box appears. Delete all the http// bit so that the box is empty and then just paste in your copied link. When you click OK, the link appears twice, one after the other with the second version in blue. That second blue version is for you to delete (just hit the space bar) and then you can type in your own name for the link in its place. So you end up with the link (which will be invisible when you post) and your typed name (which is all that is visible)

Do you not see any of these options ? I'm using IE but I would have thought you would see them in FF.

Look in your control panel (CP) and click on "edit options". Scroll down and make sure you have it set like this.

I think Andrew's problem is to extract the actual http link from google's rubbish, not simply hiding it behind a forum-generated visible tag (for pages opening a separate document typically pdf, of course)
When the url is not too long, you can copy the text from the google result page, otherwise you have to use some clever means.
I didn't try this, but using alternate search engines like duck duck go might give more usable results

Yeah you don't need ALL that google code, as you can select just this.

Using FF with NoScript set to Disable Scripts Globally & Request Policy blocking requests unless i allow them, i see this when clicking the G link. I can then Copy/Paste the link wherever i like, as in here.
