From a previous Boominator shell I didn't finish because I already have 1 boominator, so this is a boominator actually sliced into 2.
I am going to bi-wire them so I can join the two halfs to return it to a boominator if need be.
I call it a transforminator... I can do that yea? 🙂 😀😀

Here's a question for you for something that I've been pondering about for the Aussie Boominator builders. Down under you have a great deal of quite dangerous critters. Do you take any special precaution that some of those don't take up a temporary home in the Boominator while on a bush track?
I've been thinking about this for some time and I'm sure some you could put some big masked lycra similar to fine masked net stockings on the back of the port/handle assembly. It'd be flexible enough that you could still use the port/handle as intended but would stop critters from taking up residence inside with the potential hazards that will have when brought back to the house. And it'll be allow virtually unimpeded air flow so that'll have virtually no effect on the function of the port either. Or maybe I just worry to too much about it?
My interest in the subject was rekindled recently as someone mentioned that they planned to take a solar powered halfinator with them on a stay in Africa as they could use it as a music player and PA system but they could also charge basically all the cell phones in the village on it (they don't use smart phones there but Nokia C101 or similar types that basically lasts a month or at least a week or two on a charge). So I started thinking about this again.

I'd like to add a capacitor to my AMP6 to improve bass performance, which I've read Saturnus has done to his.
Question is, does it have to be EXACTLY the same?
I didn't have my AMP6 to check on when I ordered, so I chose this:
16V 105C KY Series Nippon Chemi-Con Low ESR (Long Life) Electrolytic Capacitors
(Copy and paste into an ebay search if you want to check them out).
And of course i chose a 16v 1500uF.
But now that I've had a better look at my AMP6, the capacitor is a KZE type.
Bottom line: Will my KY cap work, or do I have to order a KZE?
PS. I know hardly anything about capacitors, so I have no idea if this is a big deal or not.

I generally bring the boomy inside the tent when it's bedtime, or just throw a towel over it which covers the ports.
the only critters really would be snakes, but I'm not too worried as they generally stay clear of humans ( unless we are encroaching on their space before setup time), but once camp is setup, it's all go 🙂
Spiders are everywhere anyway, so I don't worry about them, only the really big fury ones 🙂
There is probably a greater chance that someone would steal the boominator rather than a python getting snugly with the woofers 🙂

I haven't found a USB charger yet that DOESN"T create digital noise through the amplifier yet. Maybe i have it grounded too much.

The only thing I don´t have figued out is what types of resistors i need for this setup, Could someone link a pair of resistors that will work for me? I live in Sweden so a swedish webshop would have been great.

I'm getting my speakers for a halfinator on Tuesday from blue arran, and I am still a little in doubt about if I should use the Qtx piezos which came with the set Piezo tweeter, 100W max. from QTX 1.58 IN STOCK (27 Apr 2014), or if I should buy the Mpt-001 MPT-001 - Canopy Sound when I order my amp ? I truly want the best sound and would gladly pay the 20 € more if there is any sense in it 🙂

I had those Bluearan Piezos in my Boominator before I upgraded it and they're grand.

Alright, my Boominator is now almost finished, the only thing missing is putting the top on. I wanted to make sure everything worked and test the volume of it before i did that though, and from my iPhone with a FIIO E3 preamp it only plays around 90dB at 1m (This is with the top on, and me sitting on it, obviously it's no where near air tight). Will mounting the top properly really make a 13dB difference? Or is there another issue perhaps?
What mic are you using? Most (if not all) smartphones can't measure loud sound correctly, so that might be why you are getting "low" numbers.
Well it's the mic in my Galaxy S4 mini, which actually seems to be limited to around 90.

Yes, connect them in series with the + wire of every tweeter. Direction doesn't matter, resistors are nondirectional.

But one thing i cant figure out! how you are going to glue the Hp's in the middel, and do the final wirering with the top glued on ?
