Watch out ! Grouped shipment to Europe will not work to avoid import duty exemption ... Or it should be shipped by sea ( then there are only random checks ... So duty exemption is not guaranteed, but at least we will save on shipping cost)

I'd be wiling to help run this groupbuy with some help.. Anyone in the NYC area?
I can only imagine the weight of this delivery and a huge PIA to get everyone's items in an appropriate box then into a cab... *sigh*

Thank you very much! Your offer of help is much appreciated.

The one good thing about the transformers is that they are
quite light (<4 oz each).

I've emailed Jensen for a 100+ unit quote on the wired transformer.
Will see what they come up with. I also asked about splitting
the shipment into a few (say less than 4) packages to different
countries for redistribution.

If Jensen accept 3 shipping destination US , Europe and Asia this avoid custom taxes and be more playable for us. Probably shipping by sea to Europe give chance don't pay much. Personally i like to help for European distribution for benefit of Diyers. Thanks for Yours help in GB !

Thank you for volunteering. You can get help from the USPS. On their web site, under Quick Tools, Schedule a pickup, this is what it says:

"Your carrier can pick up your shipment free during regular mail delivery if you're using an expedited service like Priority Mail®, Priority Mail Express™, Global Express Guaranteed®, or Merchandise Return services."

You can use their small flat rate boxes at $5.80 each. That is the price of the box delivered anywhere in the U.S.. If you have access to a printer, you can take care of postage online.

Except for those in the US (and not in California), I don't think anyone
should expect a large number of transformers to show up without
customs charges.

In the earlier reply from Jensens it was stated they prefer UPS
and USPS priority flat rate service. The flat rate service is
particularly good for going overseas; you can pack quite a few
transformers within the 20 pound limit.

For anyone considering being helping with the distribution, you
may want to check what customs duties/HST/VAT etc might
apply as well as the cost of reshipping them.

A while ago I spoke to a member of this forum who is experienced in conducting group buys. He told me that one issue which come up frequently from members outside the U.S. is import duties. Reinforcing what Dennis mentioned above, for those members residing in other countries, it is important to properly manage your expectations. If import duties are applicable, count on paying them when you receive your package. Anyone who believes that the additional cost of those duties is a deal breaker, may want to reconsider participating in this group buy.

For example if Jensen send to Europe and we have importation costs it be with printed document after this total must be shared with all diyers from Europe.
Next steps is :

give personal adress with zip code for estimate price of each shipping destination.
2 |
then diyers send money with PayPal invoice for pay all
customs duties and shipping.
3 |
diyers receive PM about shipping with track number.
4 |

very cool, I did not know they did pickups. I think the small box may be a little tight. I'll head to the post office tommorrow and see what the cost is to ship flat rate padded envelope and any other options they may have. Keep you posted Also if there is anyone in the NYC area, I wouldnt need to ship as we could meet.

Considering the way the postal carriers handle the packages, I would not ship the transformers in envelopes. The plastic core would most certainly break from all the abuse the packages take. I would opt instead for a small box which can accommodate crumpled newspaper around the transformers. I suggest you bring a picture with you to give them an idea of what you are planning to ship.
