Robert,

Do you know how to solder electronic parts?
If you do, try a L'amp, possible the L'amp v193 verison (10-13 watts). CCS verison is 5-6 watts.

I made the v193 on a wood block. It drives a Lowther PM6A driver.
You can see it in my gallery. Basically point to point and not very complicated, but the sound is very unique.
See L'amp articles in Articles link on the DIYaudio.com site.

With small room and efficient drivers, you won't need much power, so get a good sounding amp.

Or, you could try one of the new push-pull 2SK82/Sj28 SIT amps. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pass-labs/253411-article-sony-vfets-part-1-a.html

Best of luck with your search!

If you are interested in learning, the amp Zen Mod recommended is a very good place to start.
You could say it was designed for people interested in learning to build diy audio gear.
The ACA or Amp Camp Amp is an interesting yet simple circuit. There is a kit available on this sites store. Can get a case made especially for the ACA. The price is definitely right.
There are plenty of people here to help you if you have questions.
