Then you already knew what I was referring to SY, and you just called me a liar to besmirch my name? '-)
people, especially monied people don't care,
if they can afford to buy even at an exorbitant price, they will...
there is no stopping them...no amount of technical/engineering explanations matter to them, they won't understand anyway....
after all how they spend their money is nobody's business but theirs...
Yep ..... 🙂
Hey , Does anyone know where I can hear audio equipment made by the great one, the great antagonist, the snake oil whisperer, the one ...!
His must be the best ...

OK, A fool and his money..." I was at a showroom vendors rep night last evening. Nice Sony HD audio digital vault, but one of the reps, maybe AQ, was going on and on about how electrons know which way they are traveling in a cable and how power cords make all the difference in the world. At some point, separating a fool from his money is really just fraud. He did not like that I suggested a community college class in basic AC so he would not prove what a fool he was.
More Snake oil advertising: Sony's new integrated amp, actually may be quite nice. It seems to be a sliding bias AB amp or something strange. Advertised as " Class A circuitry" Not class A output stage, just "circuitry". DUH. IPS, VAS and drivers are in fact running class A, but this kind of add copy is fraud.
Here's a different approach. Instead of making few people pay a lot, make many pay a little. Sell an app that promises fantastic sound from an iPhone.
Apparently it only takes two steps to emulate a high-end speaker on crappy headphones: cross-mix the channels to reduce channel separation, then use an equaliser to make the frequency response less linear...

Not rumor, reality.
I must presume you didn't read my post that explained it all.Yes I can see that you hold a grudge against Aczel and want to sling mud. Just because two grumpy people on Linkden said they didn't like him, that isn't proof that what he did was wrong. Also all of the Audio Critic magazines are available online for those that wish to read through them. You yourself admitted to being a grey hat and when Aczel made a grey hat category you got upset? Really?😕
I didn't get upset, I INVENTED the term before him to describe my place in his catalog. I got a laugh from a live audience at a hi fi show where I gave a talk with inventing that term. There were lots of 'Black hats' there in the audience back in 1998 or so.

Does that make conning them acceptable one wonders...
Now we have had the sour grapes course, back to some good old snake oil...
My started for 10:
CARDAS AYRE ACOUSTICS (IBE) BURN IN CD at Music Direct
Interestingly the CD contains lots of brown noise, a bit like the marketing surrounding it.

Too many of those who are 'rich' are professional con artists.Does that make conning them acceptable one wonders...
Dan.
Thanks for reminding me of that CD. I have one and should try it out on my latest stuff.
You've got one? So, do you play this prior to "serious" listening? Like an athlete, you have to stretch out, limber-up before your exercise routine...you don't want to "cramp-up".......................BTW, what does a cramped-up speaker sound like?

"This disc, titled Irrational, But Efficacious!, this Cardas/Ayre Burn-In and System Enhancement CD was awarded an Absolute Sound Golden Ear Award for its extraordinary effects on audio systems. Developed by Cardas Audio in conjunction with Ayre Electronics, the IBE disc helps with system burn-in, and also has the ability to remove built-up magnetism from your components and even your cables!"
🙄 Magnetism in your cables huh? Copper sure does have a lot of residual magnetism in it I hear 😉 I find that using an AC signal through my cables on a regular basis solves that "problem". I think it's also known as playing music
."the main tool is the final track; a five minute glide tone, that when played through your system at a moderate listening volume, will improve your system's sound."
I would suggest playing it slightly louder than specified at the higher frequencies to rid your speakers of all that pesky high frequency fizz, also known as burning out your voice coils.😛
