Well if someone is doing a vfet follower a lot of power can be had from a k77/j27 pair. Especially if a little gate current is available.

I think the answer is there are a lot of other options that don't require using the hard to find Yamaka 2sk77's I have. I think I'd like to see how these 77b's develop before I dedicate those rare birds to a project. Just waiting on my power caps to arrive for my Aleph J! First attempt at a diy project so I'm super excited. I do need to purchase a quality soldering gun as well so thats next on the list.

But where do we buy these super rare SIT's? Or is this almost like catching a unicorn where you have to use an almost mythical creature ( a virgin ) to catch a mythical creature.
circuitdiy.com has the Sony parts in complementary pairs and is a reliable
source. Mike Rothacher has also done a couple of projects with these parts.
