Hi, I'm shopping for a hot air rework station to do some smd/smt work.
Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a unit?

What kind of SMD work? For resistors, caps, and parts with leads (SO, SOT, SOIC, etc), I'd arm myself with a good temperature controlled soldering iron with a fine tip. The hot tweezers come in handy for de-soldering, though a wide tip does the same job... The irons made by METCAL and Weller are truly excellent. The only time I use hot air is for LLP and uSMD packages - and even then I back up the air with a hotplate.
At work we have a Weller hot air station. That seems to work fine. Make sure you get a variety of nozzles for it if you decide to go the hot air route.

I use AT858D+
I am quite happy with my AT858D+. I think you will not regret. It has a lot of positive reviews on YouTube.

I second this. It's a suitable budget station for most hobbyists.
