Forest fires? ...Most probably. 🙂
The event tales place at a time of extreme fore damger, yes.

...but the details are rather hazy.
Something to do with too many beers.

No literal fireworks of course (this ain't Ed's house party), but some of the conversations could be figuratively "combustible"
Woah, I might actually be in town that day! Going on a biking trip to Vancouver this August, at least that's the plan. I wonder if i should bring some circuitry with me by plane?
Vancouver or Vancouver Island? Dave's place is a 'drive, then a ferry, then a drive' from Vancouver. It's around 100km as the crow flies but 3 hours travel.

How much longer does it take if you skip the ferry and drive there instead?
This year might require a slightly higher permission level than last since my anniversary is the 15th. I can probably work it though as it's only 33 years, not one of the big ones.
Hope to see all of you again.

John, they're all big ones, but there's no reason the day couldn't be incorporated into an "island getaway" - treat her to a day of pampering at a local spa and dinner and dancing, and it could be a double happy win win for all.
The Westin at Bear Mountain is a pretty spectacular location, and pretty damned close to the event. You could even bring your clubs (I'm not sure how long you need to stay to qualify for the Island resident rate - maybe only 2 generations? )
The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa, Victoria

You can almost walk from the Westin to the event as quick as you can drive... ie close rby crow fly than the route required to take a vehicle 😀

I am thinking of flying over. Is there a landing strip near enough to walk or will I require a shuttle service? By shuttle, I mean the luxurious type, reminiscent of the lifestyle I have become accustomed to now that I own finely crafted loudspeakers in perhaps the finest finish known to man?
Or maybe a skateboard. It's all downhill, right ?!
By road it is down one side of the mountain, around, and up another side. By foot it is thru the forest reserve around the side of the mountain, not very good skateboard territory.
