I have an old eBay chassis that uses extruded aluminum rails at the front and back. These have 'slots' that run the length of the enclosure at top and bottom to hold the top panel and bottom panel. The ends are walnut and affixed via screws through channels in the corners of the rails.
It strikes me as a very easy to construct, flexible, and attractive enclosure style, but I've never seen another one quite like it. Anyone come across anything like this before?

I've looked through some extruded aluminum catalogs for something like this but haven't turned up anything.

yes, but mostly used for the sides
you will even find some in the forum store here, listed as 'quasi' heatsink
I have, but most of their extrusion is t-slot or bolt together so the chassis 'face' wouldn't be a nice flat piece to mount controls. I thought I was on to something with pro audio road case parts, but haven't found anything that will hold a couple of parallel panels 2-3" apart (to create top/bottom plates). Most of that framing is designed to hold panels perpendicular for building large cases.
