You guys have way too much free time, you need to go build something, perhaps a super coherent monochromatic light source.. 😛
Poplin, I am glad you put the link in post 12. Some pretty clever stuff in there.
Thanks Cal, was a funny time. 🙂

That would be some kind of LASER, this thread only admit light bulbs. 😀
And yes, you're right, most of us are pretty much "al pedo"

None of them.how many audiophiles does it take to change a lightbulb?
The first one got distracted trying to "upgrade" the light switch. The 2'nd one managed to screw the bulb in sideways and convinced himself this was an overall improvement despite the lack of light and the broken glass on the floor. Then the third one figured the socket must be interfering with the quality of light and removed it.
Eventually one of the wives had enough, shoed the lot of them out the house, and called an electrician to sort the whole mess out.

Then there's the other lot....
I can think of at least one member here who'd refuse to believe there was anything wrong with the old bulb until he'd seen proof published in a reputable peer-reviewed journal.
Several others would be too busy playing with simulations of lightbulbs to notice the room had gotten dark.

...and let's not forget "Lamp Camp", where total noobs spend a few days learning how to make their very own light bulb using nothing more exotic than an empty jam jar, a couple clothes pegs and a piece of burned string.
OK, so you need 137 penlight batteries to power it and it's barely bright enough to illuminate itself, but "Hey, it works (sort of) - How cool is that!!!"
Somehow the materials cost adds up to around $380-00. but campers are thrilled with the results: "I can't believe how good my lamp is - if I switch it on at night I can even see where it is!".
