The Scintillas sound the best on 1 ohm, very natural sound and tonial qualities, on 4 ohm they seem to be a tad off, I have Diva's with Graz ribbons, and the stock Scintilla's are better, I find the Acoustats 2+2'equal them in the mids, but fall behind in high and low freq, and their upgraded interfaces. My room is 18x23x10
My Brystons are not friendly with 4 or 8ohm loads, they FRY and shutdown
Frying is good when outside is -14 .... 🙂
14............see thats just not right.....it hot here 300 day a year...an has been for 3-5 days in the 30s-60s.....i cant take that 14....fry baby fry...need tube OTL amp...............
Now back to the WHY.......... dose any one need a 1ohm speaker???...i mean what can it drop too 1/8th ohm??...........thats a short is it not?
Dose it make the amp sound better to be gasping for life??
An my tube comits....was on Apogees.........Stages.....

The Scintilla's are very special apogee's, they will always sound better with any amp, that can drive their 1 ohm load, take any amp that has multiple taps, say 2-4-8 ohm taps, 1 of the taps will always sound better balanced then the rest, it really effects freq, especially in the bass area.

Ribbons or planer magnetic speakers are basically purely resistive loads there is very little deviation , there is no dropping below 1 ohm , think of a resistor....
The bass panel on the scintilla is .7 ohm direct drive, the mid and tweets are even worse and use a foil ribbon on the back pluse resistors as well.
The measured Dcr is the impedance, there is no to little variation from this over the audio bandwidth....
John are you running everything thru your deq2496 or just the bass ....?
I am running the bass only. I had to tone down the 80 - 250hz region, if I remember correctly. Sounds nice...
