Why 2 tweeters?

They do it for the sake of SPL. Dynaudio does the same in
some of their products with special XO's.

Neat looking Audio Master 3 and nice pricing policy.
Altough not clear to me per pair or piece.

2200 € worth drivers, Etons and SS. Let's say a total of
4000€/pair for everything in DIY version with painting
done by a pro.

Hi,

The only excuse is SPL and possibly the extra sensitivity.
Generally though its poor option that causes more
problems than it fixes and smacks of lazy design
and focussing on visuals, not form versus function.

rgds, sreten.

Generally one to avoid I would suggest as the distance between them is almost certainly bound to cause interference/cancellation effects, check the centres compared to the half wavelengths?

It can work in sound reinforcement where if they are angled and the tweeters have narrow dispersion (bullets?) the worst interference effects can be ameliorated. You also see this of course in line arrays with several tweeters in vertical array providing wide horizontal and controlled vertical dispersion. But even these have interference anomalies in the vertical plane...

I have also been puzzled by this. I noticed that those speakers that have two tweeters (and/or two midranges) sound very incohesive. Probably due to an increase of lobing.

In the CBT design however, several tweeters works great. Here with 72 dome tweeters.

It is my impression that the people at which these speakers are aimed keep their ears in their cheque books.

maybe
but were we talking about a cheap speaker, it would be much easier to relate to 'this two tweeter issue'

I'll be charitable and say that perhaps the designers are aiming for more diffuse treble, by introducing a certain amount of lobing.

that is my guess too, yes

apart from all 'known issues', I wonder if two tweeters would be possible to cross lower than one ?

maybe someone will try it one day, just out of curiosity
but I suppose all this have already been measured ?

until then, I guess we can only go on speculating about it

Only bigger and heavier tweeter could be crossed lower
but not without drawbacks. This would not be significant
achievement IMO. We already have all what it takes to
get excellent sonics, altough some of DIYers would call
it rubish anyway. Nothing new under the sun 😉
