It is easy to understand. They made an amp that operated best into a low impedance, such as 2 1/2 ohms which allowed maximum usage of the safe area of the output transistors of the day. Then the output could match almost any defined impedance that was typically used at that time.
 
The vocal track is MONO.

You meter readers crack me up. You think that you can simply use power output and distortion numbers to determine how well a sound system is going to play.

I've news for you. Distortion numbers are only part of the answer. Subtle audio clues that can't be measured are far more important to the high end audiophiles than a simple number. Unless you have an extremely resolving system, you will miss out on real music reproduction.

Mono is just fine for a PA system such as the wall. But it's obviously not a reference system.
