Okay so I am very new to the whole Audio thing and I figured I would come here asking for some input from people who know what they are talking about.
Anyway my question is what will I need to run these speakers properly?
XLS 28 CERWIN VEGA Floorstanding Tower Speaker
I was told to buy a "cheap pre-amplifier" and to use one of these QSC GX-3 or GX-5 power amplifiers.
QSC GX3 Stereo Power Amplifier | Musician's Friend
QSC GX5 Stereo Power Amplifier | GuitarCenter
I don't know what pre-amplifier to use or what wire to buy or what receiver to buy or anything I am at a complete loss.
Sorry this is probably a very very simple questions for most of you, but I am a complete greenhorn.
I will keep researching info but in the mean time all the help you guys could give me would be much appreciated.

First off, what are you using it for? These are home speakers for watching movies, I would be suspect of anyone that is trying to recommend any other use for them. While this is the instrument amplification section you might find the PA section with more informed people (I am guessing, I do not go there) if you are looking for sound reinforcement, for home audio, I think you took a took a left turn at Albuquerque.
I agree, what does he want to do with it?.
Those are fairly low power home speakers, not PA speakers - and the amps listed would easily destroy the speakers.
If he wants home audio, buy a decent home audio amp to feed them - if he wants PA, then buy PA speakers.

O wow sorry I am extremely misinformed I suppose.
I want just a decent system for house parties that's it.

You should probably look up the Cerwin Vega line for party speakers. Two 6.5" woofers ain't bad, but if you want a loud party, go with dual 10" or 12" woofers.
Or will that be too big for your space?
Uh my house is basically a double wide trailer with and attic and a basement haha.
I have a pair of KRK Rokit 6's I use for music production and they bump pretty hard so the speakers you mentioned should be fine.
Also what are those guys talking about the speakers are for movies? Does it really matter?
And one more thing what would I need to run those? That is what I really need advice with.

Any amp that'll stick around 150w into 8ohm, or 300w into 4ohm.
Round numbers, should be easy to find a suitable amp used.
If the amplifier has "clip" lights, all the better. Those must never light up, because if they do, your speakers won't last long at all.

They just mean those speakers are not for serious music listening. Too many obvious flaws in the sound. They're not for PA or parties either - their home speakers are not in the same league as the disco systems from the 70's and 80's. They're living off a reputation that's long gone, IMO.
For house parties, I'd get a 12" PA cab, unless you're ready to build something custom. Which it doesn't sound like. Think Yamaha or better - you need something better than SoundTech, MTX, American Audio, etc unless you just want to blow them up. Add subwoofage later - which you can learn to build. For a pre-amp, get a small MIXER. Either a DJ mixer - a low end Stanton or Numark, or one of the small Behringer live sound desks. You'll be able to connect multiple sources and have plenty of gain.
I would try those amps with a pre amp. But Cerwin Vega isn't what it used to be. Look up reviews on older models.
Do you already have the speakers?
No I do not have them yet.
Just looking to see what else is out there.
Actually the big C-V speakers with the double 15" woofer were reviewed in recent years by a few Hi-Fi magazines, including the very snobby "The Absolute Sound". They got very good reviews. Surprise! They just mean those speakers are not for serious music listening. Too many obvious flaws in the sound.
I do think that if you want party speakers, get the models with at least a single 12" woofer, double 12s even better. Is that in your budget? Will they fit in your house?

you could buy less expensive amps for a home party, Cerwin Vegas are efficient so 50 watts will get the cops to show up.
100 watts would be better. If your going of abuse get an amp rated at 100 watts at 4 or 2 ohms
I'm not super experienced but I do know a thing or two. Craigslist it up. Get some used peavey sp-2's or pr2's and get any amp that's equivalently rated. As long as its brand isn't Gemini or Pyle Pro. U can't go wrong. Plus its a party. Anything w a 15" (for the most part) should be loud enough. Your guests are going to give zero ***** as long as its clear and loud lol
