I'm planning on a Dynaco ST35 rebuild. (the original skinny chassis) I want to leave it without the cage on when done. The existing transformers work fine, but are rusted, pitted, etc. I can paint them, or sell them as-is. If I get new nice looking transformers, are the original transformers something special, or are the recommended new replacements just as good?
I did notice that the newer output transformers are tapped for 4 and 8 ohms. Other than that, I'm assumming the new output transformers and power transformer are pretty much identical to the original?

The old transformers are considered to be very good. Just clean them up and give them a spray. They'll look good as new.
