Ive Noticed the F4 seems to have some kind of Mosfet Protection or diodes there which can as one of the purpose protect, can anyone recommend anything for the F5 to give some form of protection to the Fet's while testing. Ive seen Zeners on the Gates before but am not sure what the best way of going about it is.

The fact that having a fault on one channel of my amp and it then blowing every Fet as a result was a concern.

Thanks
Riki

It is very unlikely that you will exceed the 20V maximum of the Mosfet Gates
since the rails of the amplifier are only 22 or 23V anyway. I have never
lost a Mosfet on the F5.

Come to think of it, I don't remember the last time I broke a Mosfet Gate.

(I do remember deliberately breaking a batch of SIT Gates to see where the
limit was, an expensive experiment.)

hehe, ok Guys
Nelson I think your far more advanced with electronics than me! I expect then it was not the gate that Died on the Fet(s) Im not sure which other ways they can fail, as I don't know much about it

One channel went, But I did have a lot of hum from a PSU not wired ok, So members here suggested I use Tea-Bag's boards which are on their way 🙂
what I find realy interesting is when i turned it on there was a tightening sound so i switched it off then back on a few times then i thought ok what the hell lets just turn it on. that's when the Mosfets fried.

The tightening sound was unusual and interesting, not sure if it was worth the money tho! 😀
