I'm headed off to college in the fall. One thing I want is a good speaker setup, preferably one that can get pretty loud, but isn't too big, or wildly expensive.
Class-D seems like a good option. I'm thinking 100W x2 should be plenty.
Any favorites?

The Abletec ALC0100-2300 module, two times 50 watts rms which is plenty for a college dorm. It comes with a onboard power supply so all you need to supply is a box with a power switch/cord and a volume control.
For about three times the money, you can build a 2x180 watt amp using two Hypex UcD modules and a smps from either hypex themselves or from connex, there may also be other places selling smps modules with split supply output for audio amps.
