Off topic: I don't belong to full range clan completely. I do have dedicated low bass and middle bass sections, also super tweeters, basically low-XO'ed 3,5 way😀. The range that I will have as wide as possible, is the middle range. Preferably from ~200Hz to >10khz without crossovers. And the xo's preferably 1st order PLLXOs of possible, lowest band with dsp and room correction if the room demands.
It's not a matter of satisfaction, but a matter of variety. I also have wonderful horns to reproduce the aforementioned middle band, they are also capable to produce wide range from a single point. I'm satisfied with all of them, yet I would always choose to get other perspectives to music reproduction regardless what speakers I have. No single speaker can do it all and no single speaker most definitely cannot sound like completely different speaker (try to make cardioid horn sound like a dipole for example). Sometimes "different" is all that is needed if you know what I mean.
Many "ordinary" speakers sound good also.

^Right to quote usually covers (besides the right to quote someone's text) also right to quote pictures, sounds, taking screenshots of the user interface of a computer program etc, but fine with me (I don't know exactly the forum's quoting policies either). I was just trying to help.🙂

And it did help a lot! Thanks for that!
I was looking for some Dayton PM220-8, but looking at the distortion characteristic of theses AX-08, and the price compared to what the Dayton go for in europe (3 times the price...), and also the fact that europe-audio does a 10% discount this weekend, I am going to pull the trigger and buy 4 of them to use in the 200Hz-1000Hz range 🙂
What I am looking for in these fullrange compared to more classic midwoofers is a low Rms that I would like to experiment with (in reference to some recent discussion in the beyond Ariel thread)
With their 1" underhung VC two of these drivers per side will of course not be able to follow the 4" horn driver above them SPL wise or power compression wise, but it should be good enough for an experiment, and if it is not then two additional pairs could still be ordered 😉

My post #18, referring to now deleted #13, is meaningless, so I search for Gradient AX-08 and get link:
To shopping site, where these guys want their stuff seen.
On page is thumbnail of a decay plot similar to those taken down by moderator, clicking on it opens larger image in embedded window; of this I take screen shot and upload here. More advertizing for AX-08.

Decay plot shows nasty ringing/resonances above 1KHz.
SPL plot from same source really tells trained eye all that is needed in this case:

Build up in output >1kHz is resonance and harmonic distortion driven. Driver design is apparently based on getting high SPL, and begs some manner of reflex enclosure to bolster SPL <1kHz with baffle reflections, internal reflections, and of course the basic ported box resonance. Yuck.
Crappy control of driver >1kHz will only deteriorate with IMD induced with lower frequency components. Radiation pattern above 1kHz is guaranteed mess.
On further review, for price and performance it and similar AX-06 are very poor.
Based on waterfalls in #13, I wouldn't consider using either driver above 2kHz.
So if forcing myself to use this driver, steep cross below 1kHz would be in order. 2kHz is polluted.
Much better full range drivers exist, with price/performance ratios certainly worth spending a little bit extra.
