I think white glue is to stiff/unflexible and the foam might get loose due to vibrations. Perhaps it would have looked better if the silicone was gray, but I used what I had at home.
The foam you guys are using is hard to come by here in Sweden.
It is considered art material and costs $15 for a 70x100 cm sheet.
The XPS foam floor underlay costs $3 for the same size.
It is rigid enough for the structure, but the innermost curves tends to bend outwards. Hence the braces.
At $15 ea, I would resort to something else too. 😀 it might be that it is made in the US and most of that is shipping costs...

We have found Amaranth to be the most effective grain for damping, especially if used in the month of May.

I eat amaranth all the time - it's a green-magenta leafy vegetable like spinach, not a grain. 🙂
I believe the grain [actually a seed not a true grain] has been used as a foodstuff for longer than the leaf. I'll go check.

Amaranth does produce copious seeds which if left to itself produces lots more amaranth plants. Never knew the seed was used as food source though. What does this have to do with damping speakers? 🙂 Easy to grow by the way and way healthy for you and personally, I like taste better than many other leafy greens.
I think it seems obvious that hemp seeds would be the ultimate material for mellowing out internal resonances. 😉
It will be way mellow if the speakers overheat and catch fire. Reminds me of Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke.
