your probably right, I have ZERO experience with horns, except a small bullet tweeter I used for my friends PA sat system.
Anyway, I am interested to learn more about this speaker.
If I change apartment for a house (perhaps very soon) I would like something like this for my biggest room.... :)
But that is a far far future, I ave to finish current project first

I am a newbie with horns also, just researching for a new speaker proyect like you, using horns.
Looks to me that horn doesnt go low enough, you still need a bin bass to go down to 40hz.
So probably you need a several ways speaker. Good or bad depending in your goals.

What are you thinking on?

looks cool
I have recently built these
100hz should be in reach
needs bass bins yes
but thats part of the whole setup
and just one way to build effective speakers

tinitus: any link to them? or description?

I am thinking about folded sub which could be placed under the mid bass, then either traxtrix on top or bi-radial or whatever would match with them.
I had a look on the Wicked One from Decware. What I like is the size of it, what I don't like is 4 woofers... it can get expensive.
I already sketched up the Iwata midbass to get me a sense of size. Well, compared to Onken or even petite onken, the Iwatas are PETITER :D :D :D

will see if I can work out some documentation describing them
they are calculated for a cheap 12" Fane(12-300)

should I build bass module/bins for them, I would consider slot load style bandpass
I designed it for bass guitar, but experience from previous project tought me to build two, just in case ....:D
might start experimental design where slot shape and size can be changed
but I need drivers, and they cost money ;)

but since this kind of midbass horn doesn't need any highpass crossover, I guess a simpler(and more predictable) vented BR bass bin with active filter would do

for the top/tweeter, a unity horn design is tempting to try

hey, just for you I connected one of them to my 'hifi' stereo
nah, joking... I have postponed it for too long

wow ... sounds like they really have the potential to become good musical 'hifi' speakers

hey, I think you got that wrong.....the Iwata can be placed on top of the Onken...and you have both :D
