Sub built into a chimney

I was at a follow AKers house this past weekend for a SMAC get together and the guy had a really nice HT set up in a dedicated room with actual theater seats and 7.1 surround. Right below the screen there use to be a fire place. He capped it off with a couple feet of concrete then made a baffle board with 2 15" subs. It really sounded good and he claims it was flat to 14hz. I can hear that low, but when watching the 3D version of Titanic, the scenes in the engine room felt like I was in the engine room.

I just thought it was a good use of space.

Not to mention the fact that should there be a power outage, he could light a fire in the subwoofer.

Let's see the other subs that can do that trick. 😛

I'll have to ask him if he took measurements, but he is not that kind of guy so I don't anticipate it. It was a nice and very official HT room that sounded good. He had 7 Klipsch inwall speakers around the room so it was very full sounding and the house really shook with those notes that we can't hear but make our eyes giggle.

Transmission line, of sorts, ported to the sky, perhaps????

LOL!
I bet he has to take the driver out every six months so he can remove all the feathers! I can imagine a pidgeon happily sitting on the chimney, a low note hits from below, pigeon dissapears down chimney and reapears in time with the frequency just with a few less feathers each time! :Popworm:

:rofl::rofl:
