Yes. Salas' 6V6 is a permanent member of my audio family. I am going to redesign the whole board so that everything is together and neat. THe psu will be redesigned to allow for SS or tube rectification. Excellent amp that is well worth the effort. Even got some Mundorf SIO waiting, but have to try old Russion PIO as well.
You will like it Bas. It has been in proto type form in my audio system for quite some time as I hate to take it out to finifh the wood work.
I think I will like it as well. Must confess I love working with the Ikea tray as a chassis. Building an amp like this goes very fast. And it looks presentable as well 🙂 I think.
I hate metal work. Well not really hate. But it takes so much longer.
What preamp did the Salas 6v6 replace in your case?

You got to try it with Salas HV shunt supply. Makes a difference. Go all out. It is worth it. I even sparng for some RCA NOS Blackplate Military grade tubes. ONce again, well worth it. Would not have done so if i was not impressed enought to make it a permanent fixture.

Would be happy with some O-Rings for 6V6's bases, since they are vibration sensitive when in 15dB gain mode. Especially the cylindrical anode NOS ones except RCA which is noticeably better for that, but all get affected a bit.
The Tungsol will get you 85% of the way, maybe more. We all know that most of the money is spent in tweakers corner. Salas, Do you think heat will be a problem in thats structured cell setup. I really like the ease of setup. Jsut cant beat it for a quick case. Looks good to boot with tennon joinery
Well, each one bottle runs at 5W, I will have to go aim my IR gun at their bases, because I forgot how many C I had found on them. I will report in 5 mins so you will be able to judge if it can darken that wood and its finish around the bases collars.
I've already done some searching. Turns out. Apart from other 6V6's there is 6F6G and others. Looks like a tweakers dream.
I'm also considering the Lundahl LL1660/25mA as output instead of caps? Has anyone tried that? But first I'm building it as specced by Salas.
