LED projector

Hi,
Has anyone built a good LED projector with atleast dvd resolution in India?

If yes, could you help me build one? What parts would I require?
Reason for choosing LED as light source instead of MH is wattage and heat! 400W MH works too hot and also adds electricity costs.

Anyone? Is the viewing experience worth the effort?

I am from Chennai, made a 15inch LCD PJ, and the results are excellent. Good colour rendering, etc., with MH250W. ONly problem is the size, neither able to fit on top or floor mounting.

its really very frustrating being in india...no diy material available...and in case u bring from other country...custom officials dont even understand whats the use...

hi innocuous, am also trying to build a led projector i found some useful links frm ebay including lcd and other parts i hope it will help u (i am also going to buy these frm ebay)

The same lcd are using in diy projector Philippines (by sir hertzblaster)
and for led light engine u can find any led suppliers from local market.and for heat sink am going to use a transistor heat sink from a public announcing system amplifier it can be easily available in local electronic shop for cooling add two computer fan or smps dc fans from junk or
u can use water cooling system (i don't know more abut water cooling ) . if u are going to make a led projector with long throw u find lenses frm india . for short throw i recommend optolife it is safer.

There is a shop at moormarket chennai shop no.375, owner name is manohar.

He is having all type of second hand lenses with cheap price.

I got 2 ohp fresnel lenses, condenser lens and a triplet lens too...(most of them at Rs150)

Those who are there in chennai... it is a must visit....(old RC toys also available there...)

are you interested in swaping triplet (i have a short throw triplet from lumenlab) but what actually I need is a long throw.

Hi Keimjay, so nice of you to offer to swap the triplets. however, i would want to buy a short-throw, and keep the long-throw as well... just in case if the experiment fails, i can restore back to long throw lens. however, i would be interested if you are willing to sell off the lens you have.

buddy, i had built this projector back in 2007... cant really recollect the price i paid for the fresnels... however, the entire set (2 fresnels and a triplet) came for 2200/- odd something.

Hi all of my friends, i want some help, i have suffering some problem in my pj, when i am using a mirror(ordinary mirror) in front of lcd for diverting image the image is appearing in double figure on wall, i don't know what is the reason. Please help me.

You can get rid of the double image by placing the mirror at exactly 45 degree angle w.r.t. light path. If your design doesn't permit that then I'm afraid a front surface mirror is the only option.

Hi Actor,

You are using Normal mirror for which reflective coating is coated back of a glass so you will have two reflections now, one is of glass and another is of reflective coating, so you are getting double images, You should use front surface mirror.

If you use ordinary mirror you will definitely get ghost image. You have to use only front surface mirror.

Hi...All, currently i am using a normal convex lens for projection but this is don't throw fine picture the image is distorted (Barrel Distortion) and corner to corner blur. Because i don't have triplet lens i am serch in internet but not found in india 😕, if any budy know where to buy triplet lens in india please give me address or website addr. Thanks in advance

Yes you are make projector with single fresnel, the fresne lense attach to back of lcd (middle of light & lcd) in 1 inch gap to lcd, fresnels groove side face to light (plane side face to lcd).
