who was it that said they had the instructions for adjusting the protections? Could you post them. Is it the previously unidentified pot on the amp?

I'm still curious what that third pot does. The two pots for the input and output dc offset weren't adjusted on mine so i've always wondered what the third was and wondered if it needed to be adjusted as well.
As I only need RCA-XLR cables temporarly until I buy a surround processor with balanced out (maybe the Emotiva XMC-1) I didn't spend too much money on these I bought these one:

Thanks guys, I found cables in two guitar shops where I live that seem of good quality, I will go with one of those.
I have instructions for adjusting DC offset and output DC level from Hypex and also have instructions on calibrating the over-voltage from someone else (who got them from Hypex) but I will not be doing the last one yet.

It is not the third pot which is used for the protection calibration. I had the same dropout problems and with the help of Hypex got it sorted out.
First DC calibration with pot1 and pot2 as described earlier, then calibration of protection:
I think it is best to contact hypex directly as to avoid any problem of warranty if you do something wrong based on information given here. But basically you need to deconnect completely your ncore (no input, no output, no smps or other supply) and apply 3V DC to the 5-pin programming header of the PCB for a second or so (pin 1-, pin 2+, where pin 1 is the one closest to the red capacitors). For one of the amp is went ok immediately, for the other one I had to try several times (you need to plug in the ncore again and try if it works. If not you need to start again and I did it with slightly different voltage until 3.09V worked).
For the moment, no dropouts anymore (keep fingers crossed)

Adjustments made and so far so good. I checked the other which was spot on. I think one must've slipped through without being calibrated properly.
Seems these miss or uncalibrated modules are becoming more common...These seem to be marketed as plug together and play- not everyone has oscilloscopes and variable voltage power supplies for diagnostics...I hope Hypex keeps their eyes on the road and takes better care of the QC going forward or their brilliant product is going to have a bumpy ride....

From what I can see, so far only 2 modules are recorded as having problems.

Maybe Hypex could just add a FAQ somewhere with a How To (would avoid to read/search the present thread).
I had to adjust mine. 15 minutes with a voltmeter. No big deal. Tom

Looks very nice. Certainly easier working with wood than metal. So you think you will have sufficient heat dissipation with the amp module simply mounted to wood?
😀 They're mock-ups while I wait for the metal versions to be completed and to check everything fits ok.
Even if it is the worlds best amplifiers I will never order. 😡 I just ordered som Holton modules instead. 😀

I emailed them late last night and had a response first thing this morning and resolved the problem in minutes. I am pleased that Hypex make these available to DIY'ers like myself and that they're pretty easy to set up. I certainly wouldn't be spending the money they cost already built by a manufacturer as I couldn't justify it over other things.
I think your main problem is that you didn't use the power supply they're designed to be used with and I guess they have to prioritise their support to OEM buyers who are placing large orders.

I would not need support at all if they had been ok ! The support was good no doubt about that.
If you twist the cable tightly as suggested by Bruno, they will be shorter and probably at the right length for your outlay.Mockup photos:

I'm pretty sure it will still be longer. I have the bits to make them up anyway but I guess it's hard to judge how much shorter twisting will make them without trying so I'll give it a go just in case.
I now have the LEDs and resistors worked out. Improved speaker cables and mains cables to go.
