Hello everybody
A friend of mine, has an ACCUHPHASE P260, very nice power amplifier, that was destroyed by a technical failure, and after, more destroyed by many incompetent technicians.
😡
Before throw it, gave me these amp with hope that it can return to reproduce sounds
This P260 is an class A / AB, with "DC coupling" .
-
First inspection:
Both channels are dead.
All power transistors were removed and/or substituted with another european kind.
Some parts were removed, they are in a bag, and i don't know where they go.
-
In this amplifier, on one channel, there are (i think originals) pair of TO3 mosfet 2SK134 - 2SJ49 : are they original?
-
At other channel there are BUZ905D and BUZ900
Now: BUZ "D" are 250W rated .... "not D" version, are 125W rated.. Why someone mixed them ?
mmmh... some what still not return on my mind.
LOL
-
There are many resistors burned, and at a summary check, many active device in short circuit.
-
Without any schematic or service manual, it's an hard play !
So... can you help me with your ideas ?
-
Biasing procedure and bias current values ?
Anybody can help me with schematic diagrams, picture of inside views, or better, with a service manual?
-
Thank you.

Mine (several years ago) had Hitachi 2SK134 and 2SJ49 as far as I remember. Some old Nikko amps uses the same transistors.
The sound is really good indead, but it's not very expensive on the used marked.

I recently "repaired" one, only by resoldering all the joints (which looked just as bad as that japaneese link) and replacing most of the electrolytics.
Very hard to find a schematic (I never did)
However Flavio: if some parts have been desoldered and the active devices are dead - I will be quite difficult to repair.

Many thanks at all, guys, for the precious info and the links to other site.
The pics that i've seen, that helped me to understand where many components are located, put me in a tragedy scenario.
-
This is not a simple repairing, it's a total rebuilding !
So, do it or not to do, is an hard decision.
I know there will be many many hours of work, over it.
For sure, is not an economic job, in terms of hours spent.
-
Have in hand the service manual, or complete schematic diagram with part list, at this time, is an essential fact to start to rebuild it!
-
One day, when, i don't know...i'll try to rebuild little parts of the P260, trying, time after time, the best solution.
.
Who will win ? Me or the Accuphase ?
Maybe the trash rubbish...
-
Regards.
Flavio
P.s. : i continue to searching for all technical and servicing infos, about this amplifier.
ALL your ideas are welcome !

Without a service manual it should be a potential waste of money to do a total rebuild.
Try to get in contact with Accuphase to see if at least they can send you a schematic. If the model is old they should have to. That is basic customer service.

Hello.
For sure, it'll be a waste of time ... but i'll try to do it like a competition between me and the amplifier.
Will be a good experience, and after all, is an hobby.
IF the winner will be the "amp"..., i can survive also without it.
...More recycled materials in the trash area.
🙂

write down to the Accuphase... mmmh ...
I don't think the Accuphase will answer me.
This, really, i'll be a waste of time !
-
Every time i've sended a request of help about repairing of their devices, every company ignored me.
-
I think that the care of customer, after the sale, in special way for older devices, is not more profitable.
In this millenium, in the entire world, every company don't want spend time and resource to accomodate requests that not produce money !!
If you try, you waste your time.
-
.... my 2 cent opinion.

Done it ! .. nobody answered me !
How i've told, call that company for an help, is an enormous waste of time !
Companies do not have the time (and craving) to answer for stupid and no remunerative questions.
Help a costumer is a waste of human resources.
The costumers have to buy new things ! NOT repair their old devices !
Otherwise, how a company makes money ? And how the company owner can pay his Ferrari ?
😉
These amps are well built and use quality parts, sound good too.
Worth fixing, the design is not so complicated, Im sure youll be able to find someone with electronic knowledge that can fix it, probably its just a solder joint but you should also replace caps on it.
Give me a day or two, if I recall correctly I have schematics for this amp.

Thank you Mr.
I've looked, but they have not what i'm looking for.
.
I've abandoned all researches.
.
When i'll have fancy,(mmmh, yes, but....when ?? LOL; now i'm playing with a SAE 2600 and a SAE 2400L).. i'll do reverse engineering and i'll try to comprehend where put in the circuit, the various components that are actually in a plastic bag...
I'll try to see if the components are original or not, and /or in somewhat to rebuild something similar to the original design.
In case of bad result, will proceed to rebuild, inside the cabinet, a new project of amplifier.
I know will be lost all original specs, but, maybe, it will be a beautiful experience to learn more.
.
Somebody told: nothing is forever....
Regards to all the "Diy" community.
