I came across some nice looking copper plate at the scrap yard. There's no way of knowing what alloy it is. It's about 3/8" by 18" by 18" and available at spot copper prices. I was considering this for a Class A amp case.
Is copper too soft? Will I get all sorts of dents and scratches in the case if I get the wrong alloy?

Just see how easily it dents compared to aluminum, should give you an idea.
If it "looks good" now, it's likely an alloy.
