idiot proof mono push pull 6l6gc schematic wanted

i need a very basic schematic, that is easily readable with either a 6sn7 or a 6sl7 doing input and phase inversion duties. i have pairs 5k and 3.8k hifi output transformers. i have four sockets on these chassis and dont want to add anymore 1 input 2 power 1 rectifier. 30 watts or there abouts is what iam after in power output.

excellent. Another paint-by-numbers job...

The boozehound link is SE, not PP.

IMO, 4 bottles is not going to get you enough gain and split and grid drive if you intend to use one of the spaces for a rectifier and still get 30W. I'd look at ss rectification, and that frees up your gain stage and phase splitter options.

thanks for relating. i have spent 2 mos on 2 different builds, and they both suck. something that would get my confidence going again would be nice.
the boozehound site does have some good reading at least. i need more theory so maybe i can figure some of this stuff out myself. learning this is harder than a golf swing.

If you decide to go with Pete Millet's KT88 build as suggested, check out my revived thread entitled "Building my 1st tube amp". I am on the way to building 2 of them, and they are not cheap. From all I've read they sound awesome, but they are definitely not an easy build, at least not for a newb like me.

nope - nothing to do with bad backs. Everything to do with randoms coming in here, asking for such'n'such a schemo, refusing to do the underlying homework, and then perstering for advice they wouldn't need if they'd done the yards first.

Do your homework - read the thread over the next couple of days. If you have questions, reference them to the posts in the thread that have confused you, and you'll get answers from experts. Thats what Chris did in his thread and he got answers that will remain valuable for the next 20 years.

Otherwise, go buy a kit.

.... besides, "idiotproof" and "tubes" (i.e high voltage) as a combined concept does not exist...
If you're too lazy to look for information on how tubes work and how to calculate operating point, you're probably going to be a danger to yourself because you won't understand all the implications behind what you're doing.... Working with tubes requires care and preparation as voltage can be deadly.

PS: don't get me wrong.. I'm also generally of the lazy type, so please take no offence, but for the sake of your own safety, I'd say you're not in the right mindset for working with tubes... do as I did, be patient.. read the book, understand, and please do not hurry. You'll have it done eventually, and you will have extra satisfaction of having "designed" the thing yourself and understanding its behaviour.

another thing to keep in mind.. DIYaudio is generally not the kind of place to look at when you're after "ready made" stuff....
yes a lot of the thread are of the Bible type, and there are very few synthetic ones
(it has its good sides and bad sides, but overall if you want to understand the details on how good audio works -provided you have the patience to read the long threads- I think it's not a bad place to get lost into....)

if I may recommend another place where you'll find more comprehensive description of projects, have a look here (look at the DIY 12SL7 SRPP / Push-Pull KT88 Tube Amp project....or its older brother 6SL7 SRPP / KT77 Class-A Push-Pull Tube Amplifier ..... I think you'll easily adapt the schematics and get the whole idea with little effort ):
