yeap ...i will verify that too ... but ...please ... dont fool your shelf this unit is something between 30-40 years old if you are having a party or something like that and you have plans on stressing the amp just skip them ....

to bring the amp in a working and safe condiotion you need to replace all electrolytics from inside ) all means all !!!

there is a bunch of other things to be done ...at least this will keep it working safe

Hi Smokey
Yep, done all replacements with SilmicII's and BlackGates. Some resistors were suspicious. I have noticed and studied up excessively on this amp and did you know that the Service Manual is so full of typo's and incorrect numberings it's not funny. Actually the same with most Marantz 70's documentation, aparently there were many addendums issued of which almost noone has copies of anymore..that's why when people refurb amps with the original specs, the amp smokes..:) 10 months later their Service manuals are filled with handwritten notes which is basically the contents of these Manual updates from Marantz that noone has...

Out of curiosity I ordered a 400 board from USA to compare with my components because of the inconsistencies with service manuals. A fun thing to do ($40us) and confirming the discrepencies indeed..Many photos of the boards on the web were doing my head in. I started emailing people randomly who has bid on and won 1060's begging them to make some macro photos for research etc....but the second board answered all my questions..

Now I am doing up a 250M, we're talkin a complete refurb including Transistors etc which I have managed to source over a period of about 2 months from everywhere..Testing them for a period to confirm their quality but they are original Moterola..The Service Manual of the 250M has at least 10 discrepencies, serious differences such as resistor values differences of 200K.........just imagine..about 70% complete now

Cheers for your reply, I'm not use to blogging, if fact you're the first and I started because my wife said that all this research I'm doing on these amps should be shared with other Marantz lovers..it would have saved me many months of research..but then again that's where some of the fun lies..some like xword puzzles:):)
Regards
Andre
