Problems with Gripracer / Cigarboxaudio

montesquieu61: I'm really disgusted to hear about all this - really it seems some people have no manners or indeed morals at all.

I have a Shigaclone mechanism (only - no chassis or PSU) which I experiemented on before building my final transport. It's 100% working and functional, and there's even a Black Gate N 47uF there too. It's yours free for the price of postage if it'll help you out in anyway. I hate to see people treated this way so hopefully it might help cheer you up a bit 🙂

Stories like this really wind me up - I had a guy do the same thing to me over at the Pink Fish Media forums, though no money was involved. He was going to do the SMT soldering for an Amp4 Tripath amplfier for me. Kept on giving me excuses for not getting around to finishing it, then just ignoring my emails altogether. Never did see it again.

We should have a name and shame thread for people like this.

Anyways let me know if that mech. would be of use.

Cheers,

- John

Very nice gesture johnm, cudos to you!

I don't know what type of power supply the shiga takes but I have several low VA transformers sitting on my shelf. If you take the shiga johnm is offering and need a free transformer to go with it let me know, I may have what you need.

[Now reposted as I originally put personal details on and violated site rules - my sincere apologies to the mods for this, it was done ingnorance. Offending details now removed.]

Thanks so much guys - John I'll be in touch via PM, if you are in Hampshire you can't been too far away I'm in Berkshire. I think I'm OK for a PSU actually.

If anything, the second disappointment is worse than the first one.

The first guy, Ted Wilson was just a young college kid who got in out of his depth trying to make a few dollars out of making up kits for people, and will probably learn the lesson. Although I lost some cash I do feel a bit sorry for him.

The second chap, Rick Nasti (Dr Rick - see his posts above), is a mature 50-something guy from New Jersey who it seems has decided to steal a near-completed project (beautifully constructed too, with a milled aluminium top plate) from another forum member, that was sent to him after an apparently kind offer of help.

He reads his messages on here (last visit 10 May) but won't take any calls from me. He has definitely read my last PM, pleading for him to get in touch but chose to ignore it.

His biography from the site here:

Biography
30+ Years of analog engineering exp. Need lots of direction on digital!
Location
New Jersey, US, Third Stone From The Sun
Interests
Audio design and construction, macs, Jimi Hendrix, tubes, bla, bla, bla
Occupation

United States

So Dr Rick is not a Dr? Nasty fits better....
I like the idea of a "Thread of Shame" one that is patrolled by the moderators so that only verifiable info is reported. Ot would be nice to be able to refer to the list before doing business with some. It's really sad it seems to be needed. I have only had one bad experience so far. Most gave been an absolute pleasure doing business with around here.

Well, the offer stands should you need it.....

Gripracer has been banned a long ago. We investigated if he delivered the lottery prize back then. He did not and he got the ban. :captain:

Thanks Salas. Gripracer was the first guy - Ted Wilson - I have details of half a dozen people he ripped off.

The subsequent problem was with Rick Nasti ('DrRick'). Up until a few days ago I was hopeful I could still get my Shigaclone back but given he's been ignoring my PMs and emails now without any response for six weeks (despite being repeatedly on the site) I've now given up and gone public. My Shigaclone has been stolen by this guy and I doubt I'll ever see it again.

If you read the thread ... he offered to help out and finish off the PSU if I send him the Shiga (a second, nearly complete one I paid $350 for off Swap Meet)

I took this at face value and had it sent it to him by the member I bought it from ... so yes he did use the forum to acquire and steal it.
