Hi Today I received a set of Kugelwellen horns.
I have a 2inch driver a Paudio (400Hz)horn and now the KH55 (250Hz) Kugelwellen. I bolted it on and listened with the first sound I could here the open smooth sound of the horn Yes it appears that this will give a great combo together.
My measurement gear stands in my livingroom because I am experimenting a lot with the passive filter.
So direct a MLS measurement done What a smooth response and what a nice top end I can easily correct a bit with a RC filter.

Here a user who made a film of the horn. Even then you can here the open sound of the horn listen.

I was planning to make tractrix horns my self I could not done better my self and even the cost for parts would come to the same cost of these horns with professional finish an aluminum adapter I am very pleased with the quality.

Ebay search kh55 or kh75 or JABO. The manufacturer of the horn sells them.where did you buy these from?

Thanks! I'll check it out. I'm building some paper horns with my friend John (inlowsound.com). Can't wait to see how they turn out.
In your first post, the step response is not very clean. Is that ringing we are seeing?

The driver has a titanium dome it is often seen with that kind of diaphragm. Although it changes with position of the microphone and my more professional HBX V6 mls program.
Measured without any correction or filter direct connected to my reverence hypexclass-d amplifier.
You see unbelievable flat response from 550Hz up to 9kHz them it needs a snubber looks like some breakup.
first : response with blackman and 1/3 smoothing
Second : response without any kind of smoothing raw measuring points.
thirt : stepresponse
Last : MLSimpulse all measured about 0,5mtr away from horn mouth center.

I have the same horns bolted to TAD TD-4001 (400Hz) and I like the combo quite a bit , much more that 340Hz Dr. Edgar tractrix. To be honest Edgar himself didn't like Tad on his horn either 😉 .It is not tractrix though but exponential (jabo) and I was informed that the cut off is 320 Hz not 250.
Hello Helmuth,
Nice horn.
Too bad it is a bit too much truncated at the mouth!
See a complete kugelwellen profile in the attached graph.

Your probably right 200Hz is the jabo kh75.It is not tractrix though but exponential (jabo) and I was informed that the cut off is 320 Hz not 250.
I will see if I can do more testinghow's the dispersion ?

It is Jean Michel, it looked to me like a good horn from the outside because it is short and wide flair that is to me a important quality.
That kugelwellen flair would become a huge construction. It is possible to extend de existing structure. 😱🙂
For the english Kugelwellen-horn is German for spheric-wave-horn
Dispersion is the question.
Here the results on 1meter measured in my living room. Without any compensation what so ever.
1/3 oct smoothing.
0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 degree angle. Thats why it sounds so good at the first tones.🙂

Burst decay no idea what it is but looks colorful to. Any one who can tell me where I can use burstdecay for?

It is in the sweet spot and sweet it is.What´s the problem with placing your chair in the sweetspot😉?
Burst decay shows the number periods as waterfall.
And the waterfall shows SPL on a time scale.
In my measurements we can see some kind of ringing above 10Khz that is longer than the other periods I think I can damp it with a simple RC network. So it will behave as the lower frequencies.
And there is a mathematical explanation for it I do not understand, what explains the reason and purpose of the burst decay.

Maybe you think there is a slight worse impulse behaivour at 500Hz in the waterfall that would be a wrong interpretation because the 1/500= 2msec so the wave lenght is 2msec.
Hello,
Here is a picture of the new Acapella horn which look like a complete roll-back kugelwellen horn:

That horn looks short and wide and if it really works with the spheric-wave will sound special.
