no problem kevin 😉
i have already change the rectifier for B30 C350 .. very bigger than original one , i had soldered some wires on board...
this 1st unit work well now but a little noise when i put the EQ to the high tone .. i have degmagnetized heads .. but still ..
this works well apart from that ..

my major problem is my second unit .. i don't find where the problem comes from .. unit switch on , motor runs ok but no sound !!😱
circuit's fuse blows out again !!.. does it comes from transfo ??

thanks

Not necessarily, start by checking all of the electrolytics and the rectifiers - I am assuming one or more of them is bad. To check the transformer just disconnect one wire to one of two of the ~ side of each bridge rectifier. Remove the tubes, make sure there are no shorts in the filament wiring - if the transformer is bad the fuse will still blow, and at that point you need to decide whether you want to invest money in getting a replacement.

Incidentally I think the B30 C350 you installed is a vintage selenium type and you should replace it soon with a modern silicon bridge.

Not sure how much noise is normal on the high tone setting...

hi ,
no , i bought it brand new ..thats ok for this unit ..
i gonna change the samerectifier on my broken unit ..

sorry, but no tube inside, its an echocord mini 😉

just a question ..
i have built a lamp ballast to test the unit ... seen in the video you sent me ;..
when i plug it in serie with a power hifi amplifier , a little light comes and noting after this ....

but when i plug my echocord with the lamp ( 75w), nothing shine ??
:xeye: problem with power of lamp perhpas ??

thks:smash:

Hello,
i have an old echocord super that i've been trying to restore for a while now, and have run into a problem i can't figure out. The only way to get any echo out of it is with the reverb button engaged. The 1,2 and 3 buttons do not seem to be functioning, or have any effect.
I recently saw one on ebay that had the same issue so it may be a common problem. Any advice?

burntheflags,

I don't know if you what version of Dynacord Echocord Super you have, S-62 or S-65, but if you cen here echo when you have the nachall/reverb button activated, the system must be in function, because this button are a pre-set mix of the echo 1, 2, 3 button.

Maybe there are a oxide in the switch selector system.

Tell me more about your Echocord Super and maybe I can help you.

hello , very helpfull topic , thanks for it 🙂
i have buy for very cheap an old dynacord echocord S-61 cause it doesnt work properly .
when i switch it on , motor work , magic eye too , but i try to connect something on it and i get nothing .
after reading all the tread , and opening my echocord , i see than many stuff should be fixed ( changing the toxic rectifier , maybe changing caps ... )
but the stuff is than the machine have been very badly modificated : fuse removed and phone jack added instead , 2 reader heads removed and missing , the front din plugs for foot switch internaly disconected for 2 added switch ( who were broken ) ... there some unpluged stuff inside ... weird ...

so i would like to fix and repair it , remove bad modification , putting new head , and regive life to this machine ...

i have see than the s-61 model isnt the same than the s-62 and s-65 ( little changes ) ; but i would like to know if the schematic of the s-62 can be useful for repairing the my s-61 ?

where can i find the two reading heads for the s-61 ?

thanks you lot for anwering 🙂

You might check here: http://www.jrfmagnetics.com/ - they have just acquired the entire stock of Nortronics heads from the Magnetic Head Company, here: http://www.magneticheadcompany.com/ and I believe Nortronics did make some replacement heads for Dynacord products.. I can't guarantee that they will have wait you want or that you can (or should) afford the cost of replacements if available.

hello , thanks for the answer 🙂
i have contact jrfmagnetics , and i will see what they will anwer me ...

otherwhise if the original head cannot be found , could we replace it by a playback head from another device ( for 1/4 inch tape ) adapted with an electronic circuit or a input transformer in order than the new playback head function as the original one ?

cheers

The playback heads could not easily be replaced by some other and I haven't seen any "kit" around to do some conversion.

I think it's about time now that someone is doing something regarding this issue. Maybe you noizemaker 🙂 ?
I sended a question to Dynacord but their mail didn't work ?? I heard they was out of stock several years ago, so I didn't expect anything but a working mail. Seems they don't have that either. :apathic:

So, i posted this here a while back but i'm going to try again.
My echocord super is starting to sound really great with a lot
of work that i've out in to it. But i'm still having the same problem with the echo 1,2, and 3 buttons. if i press in the reverb button and 1,2 or 3 at the same time they work but not if i just press in the head button itself. the reverb button also works by itself based of the 3 pot settings on the top of the unit. i'm stumped anyone have any ideas?

bought a dynachord echocord s62a on ebay

Hello, I bought a s62a on ebay, and I was told that the lights and buttons, as well as the motor work well, but they couldn't check the sound.

So the thing is...it was already plugged in "at least once" a few months ago, so should I first of all plug it and check if the sound propierties "miracolously" work well?

or should I start by replacing the capacitors from the heads circuitry?
or should I change them ALL?

I went to a big electronic components shop here in Berlin and they told me they couldn't have that BIG capacitors I needed...what can I do? Any cheap/good place to buy this kind of capacitors on the internet???

a milion thanks in advance!!! : )

greetings from Berlin

Hello everybody,

I am almost done restoring a Dynacord Echocord Super 65, and am thankful to the information I found here, it helped me a lot.

I still have one question. I am taking out the Din connectors for all the inputs and outputs except the mic inputs, I will make cables that go from Din to XLR and Din to 1/4" Mono for those.

The main output has a switch that is disconnected when a din plug is inserted. When nothing is plugged in it, it shorts what appears to be the level pot for Instrument 1 to ground through some resistors, I imagine this is something for the use with the eminent amp where only Instrument 1's combined input /output is used, but can I just leave this unconnected and have my 1/4" output safe? I imagine so and I will find out soion enough, but if anyone has greater insight it would be much appreciated.

I have studied the schematic quite a bit, and have replaced the electrolytic capacitors, replaced 4 potentiometers (two level, two tone pots) and replaced the power receptical with a standard IEC / computer one because I didn't have a power cable with mine. If I can help anyone with questions, I will.

Should I ground the ground pin from the power connecter to the chasis? The original power connecter was 2 pin so not an issue, but is grounding the chasis a safe bet?

Also, how do the two playback heads work? When you have one head selected, and no feedback, do you get 6 repeats or 3? I get three, which has me thinging that one of the playback heads is engaged instead when set to the different speed, or mine is broken in this way, can anyone confirm?

Thanks to all and I hope to be able to help others in return.

Echocord repair help!

Hello everybody!

I have several Dynacord and Echolette that I wish to restore (15 total)

But , I have to start with the first one. Here is the problem (The Echocord 63 works fine) Except that I only have 2 echoes (All the puch On/OFF switch work well. The machine looks almost new) And not a lot of reverb. I have a good power from the amplifier. But the Magic eye doesn't move like it shoud move. I used those echocord a lot in the 60's in Europe.
I do not know what part do I have to change to fix those problems and have a good machine.
Thanks a lot for your help.I am not an electronician, but I can change parts. I cannot tell the measurement of a defective part for example
Thank you so much!

Guy

Does anyone have the Internal wiring of the echolette E51 motor ?

Hi all and merry christmas time.

I am looking for the Internal wiring of the Echolette E 51 motor.

In fact I need to know how can do rewiring the internal's coils inside the motor because I need to make variable speed.

Here the ECHOLETTE E 51 MOTOR REFERENCE :

PAPST-MOTOREN KG:

KLZ 20.50-4/8-140D-B144 4922
42V - 4W - 48mF - 50Hz - 1.74

If anyone have idea how can do a variable speed of this Echolette E51 it should be welcome.

sorry, 1st post so hello to all and another echocord problem needs solving.
just got a 62a echocord.
the big problem being i only seem to get the a delayed signal from the machine. always a 0.5sec (approx) time between hitting a note and getting any sound back from amp.
the reverb control does not seem to change this. the tone control (pulled out or pushed it) also doesnt seem to do anything.
the switches all seem to work but i cant get rid of this latency.
i am outputting from the remote circuit.
the middle knob is the only one that seems to do anything. this seems to work fine (though i cant remember what it is called for now) its the duration of the echo.
anyone have any thoughts?
am i wired up correctly?
is it perhaps a problem with the reverb control?

any ideas welcome.

Thanks

TIm
