Hello guys. Im from michigan in the states. I came to the site mainly because of the section on the playstation as a cd player. I am a musician and am going to college in Virginia to become a worship pastor! I consider myself a decent guitarist and as such i dabble a bit in vintage and analog electronics. im really quite the noob when it comes to the depth of knowledge on this site and to be honest im quite overwhelmed! my interest in my home audio has led me to post this as i am piecing together a bit of a system. though it would probably sound like nails on a chalk board to most of you, I enjoy my system so far as it has cost me a grand total of $10 which was two days ago when I purchased a ps1 scph 5501!😀 heres my setup so far:
a JVC xv-np10 dvd/cd going into my pretty little Pioneer sx-434 receiver! I currently have a pair of Fisher floorstanders model stv-9215. the label on the back says it has a 12 inch woofer, 12 inch passive radiator, 4 inch midrange speaker, and 3 inch tweeter. i dont really know what a radiator speaker is for nor do i know what it means by saying it is a 3 way system...lol
aside from my recent addition of my ps1 this set up has served me since 2004 when I recieved the pioneer from a guitar teacher. I was 14 years old!! after that i found the fishers on the side of a curb. and I cant remember when I recieved the JVC but it all happened at about the same time!
Theres a bit of distortion that I think may be the fishers idk Im hoping to replace the speakers or something and hopefully you folks can help me out a bit. Im here to learn!!
Thanks a lot fellows! I'll post pics of the rig asap

Hello mexico and welcome to the forums.
Re your speakers: A passive radiator or drone cone is there to allow the low frequencies inside the cabinet to be radiated to the outside. There are no wires hooked up to it, just the pressure caused by the woofer itself to mechanically drive the drone. That is why it is called a 3 way, there are only three active speakers each reproducing their own part of the music spectrum.
What is fisher idk?
Yes we are here to help.
Looking forward to the pictures.

Parts for the Fisher STV-9215 speakers are limited. The XO, the tweeter and the woofer have all been discontinued but the midrange and passive radiators are still showing as available. Expensive but available so because of the nature of that speaker, it may be best to consider starting from scratch. Is that what you had in mind anyway?
hey hey!
welcome, i'm new as well! and as far as replacing the speakers go, you probably just wanna find speakers that fit the same ratings, purposes, and size. good luck!

Hello and Welcome,
I just saw a similar pair of Fisher speakers at a Goodwill store yesterday for $10.00 for the pair.
My recommendation is, have fun shopping. In that price range it is all good!

All just for fun!

Ahhh - that's an old sweetie!!! Classic - but with any luck you'll be able to use it as a reference amp with which to judge the DIY amps you build - and then you will know what this DIY thing is allllllllllllll about!!! 😀😀😀
AND BTW - a belated Welcome to diyAudio!!! 😀😀😀
