I have been looking at the build plans for the Frugal Horn and the designer states early on the cabinet could be used for a wide range of drivers with minimal modifications (my interpretation). Specifically he refers to the CC. I was wondering if anyone has optimized this plan for use with the 127e and if so would they share that information with me. I understand there are many good plans for the 127e, that said....I still want to build this cabinet. If needed I will buy the 126e to go in it but I thought I would try to start with what I have on hand.
If someone hasn't specifically redesigned this plan for the 127e then maybe someone could look at the TSP of the 127e and steer me in the right direction.
My first experience with a rear loaded horn design was with the Chili Changs. I had a pair of 167e drivers and had the cabinet built exactly as specified. It sounded wonderful. I later picked up a pair of 166e drivers for a bargain and attempted to use them in the Chilis....there was a considerable difference in the bottom end response, it seemed a bit more muddy and boomy at times....I was quite shocked by the difference in the two drivers as they on the surface seem so identical. So, I do believe these are designed for the drivers they are designed for. I fear if I try to model these for my 127e I might end up with something that works for neither driver.
Good advice solicited now....

Josh in Atlanta built at least one pair with FE127 -- it was suggested he start with a larger Air cavity (CC) but just built it with the small one. He was happy.
I would suggest looking at FH Mk3 which should provide a better load for FE127

jeff- since you asked for it, you can guess which 3 or 4 designs I'd recommend for the FE127 - and I think your intuition about one enclosure modified for both 6 & 7 series without compromising performance of either is probably right

Well now you have to tell which 3 or 4... you can't leave us hanging like that.

have built/heard:
Fonkens; prime/ Milli / floorstander (cumulatively dozens of pairs of the various designs, the Prime still my personal favorites - within their limitations an absolutely enchanting little speaker, but agreeably not for everyone )

at the risk of starting another flame war, this is a design that we also built a variation of for CSS FR/WR125 in both MDF and BB ply - which me conclusively settled the question
also would love to try in appropriately tuned micro-tower, and inverted BIB, but the demise of the FE127 and pending the release of new FF series has our attention presently focused elsewhere
In BLH* for drivers of this size, I prefer the FE126 - certainly not completely neutral, but too much fun to ignore
* the name of the website below and links therein should give a good hint
