Maybee it´s me..but on the schema on the possitive i says Q6 2SA1930
on the manual it says Q6 2SC5171.

whats right?

Ryssen

When configured as a +VE rail version, the transistors used are 2 x BC550C,
BC639, and 2 x2SC5171. The optional Current Limiter device is a PNP 2SA1930.

When configured as a-VE rail version, the transistors used are 2 x BC560c,
BC640,and 2 x 2SA1930.The optional Current Limiter device is a NPN 2SC5171.

This will permit operation with voltage rails up to +-40V, as long as suitably rated 10uF and 100uF capacitors are used. It would be advisable to fit small heatsinks to the Current Limiter devices when used above +-20V.

Ryssen,

Q1 is the current limiter for the positive it is 2SA1930; Q4 & Q6 are 2SC5171;
for the negative Q1 is 2SC5171 and Q4 & Q6 are 2SA1930.

The problem lies in the earlier reported non-labelling of these 3 trannies, to add to the confusion the circuit diagram on page 8 of the full manual has different numbering for the various devices.

Looking at the board Q1 is the tranny next the +ve input and R1.

In the circuit diagram Q6 is the current limiter - ignore the naming used!! As I said I will produce an overlay ASAP. The silk screen is correct and ties in with the BOM.

Yes, I cocked up there, my apologies. It is as SandyK has posted and listed in the downloadable manual.

The schematic that corresponds to the BOM is on page 17 of the build manual.

Indeed. I've just rechecked the BOM in the current build manual and it is correct:

POS

Semiconductor A (Q1) (Current Limiter) = 2SA1930
Semiconductors B, C (Q4, 6) = 2SC5171

NEG

Semiconductor A (Q1) (Current Limiter) = 2SC5171
Semiconductors B, C (Q4, 6) = 2SA1930

I did include in the manual SandyK's original mods diagram as background to the changes to JLH's circuit. We have had a few small errors in the manuals in the past, but I believe the V2.x version is pretty accurate and can be relied on for a faultless build.

Have fun!

Jon

Manuals corrected and GoogleDocs links passed to Alan.

I have also updated www.gt6.co.uk to reflect the original GB finishing and to come here. I have left the page content for info, but the manual links are deleted as the current versions are on GoogleDocs (but you'll need the link which Alan will publish when the time is right!!).

Cheers

Jon
