I'm starting out to build myself stacked ESL-57s. Various friends have expressed an interest so I'm planning to keep a blog of my progress in case it's of use to anyone else. I thought I'd post a link here in case anyone's interested: any suggestions are welcome! I'm hoping you'll prevent me making any silly errors, though it's hardly an electrically complicated job, more a matter of woodwork and managing the weight of the things.
For what it's worth, progress will be updated with lots of photographs here:

FWIW, The HDQ was the best sounding speaker that I never heard
Having said that, I have always lusted after a pair of stacked Quads...maybe some day....
Great Blog and pictures, if you would post on diyaudio when you've added to the blog, I would appreciate it!
Best of luck on your project!

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Yes ... very good , the best at the time actually.............
Did the 57-stack ca 25 years ago. To make them work at their best you should add a bandtweeter like Levinson did. I used the Deccahorns with the horns removed. The bare band-tweeter made a huge difference. Made the frames of beechwood and used modified MkIII´s for driving the speakers. If you have the speakers and the space, go ahead!
