Is it the "Machine that goes "Ping" from Monty Python's - The Meaning of Life?🙂
Not sure really. It could be an old style ECG (electrocardiograph - heart monitor) with a printer interface. One of the pictures (top right) looks like an ECG interface.
Chris.

^ Update: Just done some digging on the web. It's actually for measuring Electromyography (Electromyography - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), muscle tremors.
EEG not ECG. It's for having a wee look at yer brain waves while ya be sleepin' all drugged up on something tasting like cognac. For when ye was a wee boy and ye fell off da chair and started all shakin' and stuff.
That bad machine determined that someone required a daily dose of barbiturates and antispasmodics from age 3 -13.
Isn't science wonderful?
