My Dad had some old speakers. He said they were two mis-matched pairs in four identical cabinets. A customer of his gave him the set close to 50 years ago. The cabinets were junk but inside one was a 12" Goodmans Axiom 100 driver. It looks perfect.
I've yet to look inside the other two cabinets but I 99% expect to find another Axiom 100.
So the question is what to do with a pair of Goodman's? I'll build some kind of enclosure but how to know what kind? Do I have to test the drivers for TS parameters or maybe there are cabinet designs known for work well with Axiom speakers.

Do your research, said drivers are worth a small fortune on ebay.
If you actually want "classic old" speakers by all means rebuild them.
But it may be better to sell the drivers and buy your ideal speakers.

These speakers were designed for BIG cabinets. 1.2m X 0.7m X0.5m using a large 0.2mX0.3m stuffed vent.
They have high sensativity, deep low base but no treble and little midrange to speak of. If your do not have the voice coil you will need a midrange unit and a treble unit.
But they are very sensative and easy to drive - I guess they are 15 ohm or 8 ohm. At one time I used them along with an Electrocompaniet Electro 25 to fill a village hall with 100 people in - no problem for them.

These may be my "ideal speakers". I'd like something that could be driven by the likes of a Dynaco ST35 amp with about 12WPC.
The cabinet was large but not as big as described. It had a horn tweeter installed. I have not yet found any real specs for the Axiom 100. I may have to measure them.
